Registration of Births, Deaths and Still Births in India is mandatory with the enactment of Registration of Births and Deaths Act (RBD Act), 1969 and is done as per the place of occurrence of the event. But the system for application and generation of Birth and/or Death certificate which is called Civil Registration System is facing challenges in ensuring prompt services delivery to the public.

Hence the Government of India has decided to introduce transformational changes in the system through an IT enabled backbone leading to Registration of Births and Deaths in the country on a near real time basis. The implementation of such reforms are conceived at the local level within the respective State/UT Governments who are required as per law/rules to undertake the implementation. For this purpose we have decided to leverage discussion forum to take feedback from the general public and identify key problems, assess the gaps and take suggestions on improvement of the contemporary process of registration of Births & Deaths and issue of certificates.

Following are the issues for discussion in MyGov platform:
a) What is the utility of Birth Registration? What happens if a citizen does not have Birth Certificate?
b) What is the utility of Death Registration? What happens if a citizen does not have Death Certificate?
c) How can process of birth and death registration be made so simple and important that citizens will voluntarily register birth and death occurring in their families and will also assist and educate other families to do the same?
d) Are there any issues or challenges in the current birth and death registration process? If yes what is the root-cause of such challenges? How can these issues be resolved?

Birth Certificate:-
Make it norm, or attach some conditions like non-delivery of aadhar based subsidies for newly born Indian babies without declaring DOB Certificate ID's.This ID should be compulsory before treating that child at any government hospital and before their admission. This document should be made on very next date of child's birth or on discharge date.It is hard to attain duplicate copy for a common man at a later, there should be informative provision on local e-sampark centres.

To attract registration of birth and death some attractive incentive be declared and on birth Aadhar must be prepared and on death Aadhar must be deposited mandatory.

Going forward, it could only be Aadhar and birth certificate can be dispensed with. Same way upon registration of death on UIDAI site, e death certificate against the Aadhar can be issued. This will minimise the misuse of Aadhar also after death.

For death registration also, family members can reach Aadhar seva Kendra or post office in rural areas along with certificate from sarpanch. Death in the hospital should mandatorily be done by the concerned hospital itself on UIDAI site. Easiest way.

Dear sir, my suggestion. For birth registration. Hospital upon birth should register the same on UIDAI site along with child basic biometric with additional Aadhar detail of parents and issue immediate birth certificate. After few months or a year, the Aadhar card can be issued to child upon capturing full biometric and other details. To check curruption, this can be done by Aadhar seva Kendra or post office. In rural areas, sarpanch, aaganwadi personnel should ensure that every birth is registe

People want to save their hard earned money from being spent on party and all that after the birth of a child. The traditional Indian family members fear from some unknown enemy who might harm their newly born member so they prefer to visit astrologers. After death the family suffer in grief so, psychological, economical and fear of social stigma conditions prevent registration. Apps should be developed so that people can apply for birth/death certificates easily to local municipal office.

My father was in Army and no one was educated at my house before so The Chokidaar provided My DOB himself and we received two certificates with different dates and name mistakes. So when i needed my DOB Certificate i approached Tehsil and they provided me duplicate certificate that was one of them. But my Legal documents like 10th 12th certificates, aadhaar card and voter id have my original DOB which doesn't matches my DOB Cert. I tried to reach Tensildar but declined to correct it.NoBodyHelpfl

Respected gov, the best way to register birth and death certificate is hospitals.A special award or money or inclement of the name of hospital should be announce by modi Ji ,so hospital in fear or to incres their name will do birth and death certificate by there own and those who do Froud a strict punishment should be done that's all nothing to worry.
