Increasing non-fare revenue for Indian Railways

Start Date :
Jun 14, 2016
Last Date :

00:00 AM IST (GMT +5.30 Hrs)
Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world ...
Indian railway should manufacture Solar Panels and related equipment like inverters, in a factory of their own and panels then should be installed on roof tops of all railway stations sheds office buildings and on tracks - yes tracks should be covered where electrification is done -- to generate electricity at least equal to its own need and then surplus to share with local state electricity distribution companies. This should eliminate fuel cost of Railways.
Do not allow RAC in AC 2/AC 3 tier confirmed coaches {specially Rajdhani/Duronto},as it becomes nuisance for a family who wants to travel comfortably. Railway has increased fare but then where is the comfort/tension free journey? RAC passengers are normally single, disturb during travel (like talks loudly, do not sleep etc.)
1.Charge a nominal charge on WiFi provided in the train, may be based on usage.
2. Provide solar rooftops on most trains which most of their travel distances train in sunlight fed areas and produce all electricity required for lighting and air conditioning requirements on the train.
3. Attach 1 or 2 freight wagons on each long distance trains and earn freight revenue.
4. Convert all major city based station buildings and nearby railway land into commercial complexes and earn rent.
In reserved coaches availability of seats be displayed so that such psgrs should utilised the same by paying the prescribed chgs to coach attd.
Non fare revenue can be generated by to provide additional service like fooding , Security, job opportunity vision etc. to passengers as well to businessman,Railway can generate revenue by advertisements, at IRCTC.Com must show seat availability in running trains also. Irctc.com must book all local, reserved, unreserved tickets. all railway station should be converted as a Shopping malls. at small Railway station all employees should work for Shopping malls for Government also.
Why dont we they use their prime property for cashing in.
People need motels which can made on ppp basis.
Why do they spend so much on maintaing colonies for railway employees. Just give hra and the property can be best used in different other ways.
Why dont they put platforms on commercials. Let them maintain for advertisement . Likewise stations also. People make kiosks and place to pee outside station and its a mess everywhere. Under whose jurisdiction does it comes.
Can anyone decide
Suggestions for Railway
There are number of signboards for railway station name.
Put Smart Digital display so that it can be read from distance.
Putting multiple advertisement when there is no train on that platform will generate revenue for railways.

At small stns tkt booking clks post be abolished and in each gen coach they be used as conductors (likely in buses'). It will reduce w/o tkt psgrs.
Collect the past data for numbers passengers traveled in passenger train station by station. This will help to reduce the number of train coaches and it will help in diesel or power consumption.
