4) (This can be hard to implement, but very very necessary) A majority of accidents have occured at night time due to the use of High Beam lights from vehicles approaching from the opposite side. No where in India is this issue being discussed. I believe that the police department has to come along with innovative ideas to control this. One suggestion would be, have police checking in areas where the use of High Beam light is not required (city areas, areas well lit with street lights)
1) Boards on buses written in both English and Tamil, rather than just Tamil.
2) Implement a monthly or bi-monthly Car-free Day' (like the one that was implemented at New Delhi). This will promote the use of public transport and non polluting vehicles.
3) An online portal or redressal system where the citizens can mention the area/locality where road maintainence is required. This need not be just for roads, it can be for a very damaged bridge or anything of such sort).
Roads should be properly laid****
Effective garbage disposal management must be intiated
Literring the city should be punished****
Public toilets can be built every 200 meters for better hygiene
