The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti in collaboration with MyGov is organizing a contest for Article Writing on “Swachh Bharat: 10-Year Journey of Change”. The Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) represents a transformative phase in India's sanitation narrative, driven by a history enriched with ancient innovations and bolstered by contemporary governmental efforts. Initiated in 2014 by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the mission targeted making India Open Defecation Free (ODF).

This massive exercise successfully mobilized nationwide participation, marking it as the largest behavioral change movement globally. Followed by launch of Phase-II of SBM (G) in 2020, with the focus on ODF sustainability and Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) in villages i.e. to convert the villages from ODF to ODF Plus Model by 2024-25. It is also to be ensured that no one is left behind in having access to toilets and that any left out or new household are also covered under the programme. The goal is to make all the villages ODF Plus by 2024-25.

Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, or Clean India Mission is a country-wide campaign initiated by the Government of India on 2 October 2014 to eliminate open defecation and improve solid waste management and to create Open Defecation Free (ODF) villages. The program also aims to increase awareness of menstrual health management. It is a restructured version of the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan which was launched by the Congress in 2009.
