The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti in collaboration with MyGov is organizing a contest for Article Writing on “Swachh Bharat: 10-Year Journey of Change”. The Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM) represents a transformative phase in India's sanitation narrative, driven by a history enriched with ancient innovations and bolstered by contemporary governmental efforts. Initiated in 2014 by the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the mission targeted making India Open Defecation Free (ODF).
This massive exercise successfully mobilized nationwide participation, marking it as the largest behavioral change movement globally. Followed by launch of Phase-II of SBM (G) in 2020, with the focus on ODF sustainability and Solid and Liquid Waste Management (SLWM) in villages i.e. to convert the villages from ODF to ODF Plus Model by 2024-25. It is also to be ensured that no one is left behind in having access to toilets and that any left out or new household are also covered under the programme. The goal is to make all the villages ODF Plus by 2024-25.

Eligibility Criteria
Anyone can register on the portal and participate in the contest. The participant has to write an article and get it published in any regional/ vernacular newspapers (online/ offline)/ Magazine/ E-Magazine). The same has to be uploaded on the portal along with the newspaper/magazine clipping or link to the article in case of an e-publication, in order to confirm the participation.
The articles should be based on the following:
1. Focus on SBM and its impact in vernacular language
2. Relevance of the article with the regional issues and context
3. Capturing insights of a local population or regional.
4. Impact, readership and reach of the newspaper/magazine/e-site where the content is being published
The participants are required to post the link to the article in the Comments section to be qualified for the contest.

Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM), Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, or Clean India Mission is a country-wide campaign initiated by the Government of India on 2 October 2014 to eliminate open defecation and improve solid waste management and to create Open Defecation Free (ODF) villages. The program also aims to increase awareness of menstrual health management. It is a restructured version of the Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan which was launched by the Congress in 2009.
