For regulating the business of satellite TV channel broadcasting in India, the Central Government has laid down policy guidelines for uplinking of television channels from India, and policy guidelines for downlinking of television channels in India.

Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) vide its letter dated 21st August, 2017, stated that the present uplinking and downlinking guidelines which came into effect from 5th December 2011 are now more than 5 years old. Further, MIB also stated that keeping in view the change in technology, market scenarios, and the lesson learnt in the last few years of their operations, there is a need to review/amend some of the provisions of these guidelines to ensure healthy growth of the broadcasting sector. MIB has sought recommendations of the Authority on various issues relating to permission for uplinking and downlinking of satellite TV channels, and setting up of teleports. TRAI is, accordingly, initiating this consultation process to seek the views of the stakeholders on the issues involved. The full text of the Consultation Paper is available here.

Written comments on the consultation paper are invited from the stakeholders by 18th January 2018.

Lots of advertisement on entertainment/News/Educational channels should be eradicated to provide sufficient entertainment to the viewers and Govt Ads for welfare/development/education/technology etc are simply incredible those ads must be shown more often instead of private ads frequently, PM sir has taken great steps initiatives for the development in every phase so that should be displayed to wake up others to join the team for development as a team. In my view govt should allow free access to educational channels like discovery, nat geo, history etc. As these have tremendous general knowledge for young children who are the future generation. For producing such programs they have spent fortune. Cartoon channels also could be included.one news channel either govt or private should be free in rotation through out the year. This should be fundamental citizens right for viewing countries or regional news.

Government should have profit on downlinking of tv channnels. It will serve as good source of income. TV channels earn a lot more from ads so government can charge them a good fees but it should not increase burden on pocket of consumers. If government will increase charges they will increase fares and definitely charge from the public. Thereby, people will say government increased the fares. So, interest of consumers should be noted by government.

Bharat main Downlinking  Karne Vaale Foreign-Tv Channal per Hard Rules & Regulations Hone chahiye. Aur Enka Broadcasting Charges Bhi jyada hona chaiye. Kyoki Jitna Indian Act. Ke tahat en Ka Charges hain. Ussse  ×500 Enka Advertising Income ho Jaati hain.
Thank you.
