One of the major environmental hazards confronting Indian cities is Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSW). The unscientific disposal of much of the Municipal Solid Waste has serious implications for public health and the environment.

AICTE under aegis of MHRD and in collaboration with i4C, Persistent Systems Ltd., UGC, NASSCOM, Rambhau Prabhodini Mhalgi, SumaSoft Pvt. Ltd, Deloitte, ACM India, NIC, and MyGov launched Smart India Hackathon 2017 on Nov 9, 2016 at the hands of Shri. Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister of HRD, Government of India and Chief Patron, Smart India Hackathon 2017.

Dear Citizens, As you are aware Rajkot is participating in Smart city challenge Round III and is a strong contender. As part of Smart city proposal for Round III Rajkot Municipal Corporation has conducted various citizen engagements for (i) Understanding issues and aspirations of the citizens (ii) To decide vision goals and strategic direction for the city, (iii) To finalize Pan City and ABD initiatives.

The Ministry of Defence conducted two global design competitions on MyGov to give citizens an opportunity to ideate and design the National War Memorial and National War Museum, to be built in New Delhi.

Our city, Itanagar, faces a wide range of developmental challenges that need to be undertaken right away in order to progress and evolve for the betterment of the city and its residents. India’s Smart Cities Challenge is a major step in this direction, and will definitely help us go a long way in addressing these issues.

The Indian Government has set on a retrofitting and urban renewal mission to modernize 100 mid-sized cities and transform them into satellite towns of large cities. Implemented by the Union Ministry of Urban Development and launched by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in June 2015, the Smart City Mission is under full swing with active collaboration from the state governments of various cities.

On 28th February every year, India celebrates the National Science Day to mark the glorious achievement of one of India’s best-known scientists, Nobel Laureate physicist Sir C V Raman. On this day in 1928, Sir C V Raman discovered the spectroscopy phenomenon that was named after him as the ‘Raman Effect’.
