Digital Locker is one of the key initiatives under the Digital India Programme. A beta version (http://digitallocker.gov.in) of the same has been released on 10th Feb. 2015, by Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY), Govt. of India.

Digital Locker is aimed at minimizing the usage of physical documents and enable sharing of e-documents across agencies. The sharing of the e-documents will be done through registered repositories thereby ensuring the authenticity of the documents online. Residents can also upload their own electronic documents and digitally sign them using the e-sign facility. These digitally signed documents can be shared with Government organizations or other entities.

Key features of the Digital Locker System are:

• 10 MB of free space in digital locker to residents to access their documents through Uniform Resource Identifier (URI) and also securely store e-documents.
• e-sign online service to digitally sign documents

Residents are invited to use the Beta version of the Digital Locker System and provide suggestions and feedback on the same. Suggestions are also invited on the use cases for services which can be additionally provided by the Digital Locker System.

RBI be made multi member body with one Governor General and two Governors to avoid clash of ego as has beenthe case with Rajan. Interset rates must be brought at par with developed countries like US/UK to give spur to industrial production and bring down NPAs.

It is a suggestion that the Government introduces an amount to be invested into Tech and Non Tech Startups in a manner similar to Public Private Partnerships, with Government holding stakes in Startups, not only will this help increase awareness of Startups leading to massive employment creation but also Innovation in tune with Make in India and Return on Investment will generate funds for the treasury.

Digital Locker sounds an amazing idea for easy, fast, authentic, secure, paper-less, go-green approach for govt certificates. More importantly this initiative by our govt could cut middle-man & corruption in one-go. Common man is rippled by govt & political people who need money in this processes. This digital locker will protect common man from all sorts of corruption & discomfort! Bravo @NarendraModi ji for taking this initiative! Digital Locker System for clean India! Jai Hind!
