GIFT City has pioneered the ‘smart cities’ movement in India. To continue its status as torchbearer of ‘Indian Smart Cities’ and bring in innovations relevant to Indian context, GIFT will be participating in the 100 smart cities challenge. Through a consultative process which entailed feedback from citizens, businesses, academicians, and NGOs – GIFT City has established the following vision:

GIFT City - A gateway to 'New India'. An emerging global destination that is India's first international financial services centre and multi-service special economic zone which embodies citizen delight through its vibrant socio-economic environment, world class infrastructure at affordable costs, and pre-emptive governance.

The focus areas identified by GIFT to achieve the vision are:
• Capitalize on IFSC and service sector to create jobs and establish India in global financial services landscape
• Create social infrastructure to ensure citizen delight
• Continue as a torchbearer of engineering innovation in physical infrastructure for “Indian Smart City”
• Achieve excellence in city operations management
• Ensure financial viability and create surplus for sustained development

Further, as per the mission guidelines – an area has been demarcated in the city for accelerated development. This area includes locations such as Residential in Block 45 & 46, Affordable Housing in Block 45 and Commercial packages in Blocks 51 to 56, 58 in the DTA Area, Office building in Block 2, 13 to 15 and Artificial lake with Recreational area in the SEZ area, Social infrastructure in DTA includes School and Hospital. Following are the initiatives that will be taken up in the demarcated area:
• Physical infrastructure development - District cooling plant, solid waste pipeline, travellators, utility tunnels, smart water distribution network, electric vehicles, mobile environment friendly toilets, multi-utility parking, sewage treatment plant, engaging landscape design and street furniture, water treatment plant, power substation, online rainwater harvesting, and utility street trench.
• Social Infrastructure Development - Amphitheatre, non-vehicle street zones (pedestrian friendly pathways), lake development (Samriddhi Sarovar) - MBR, public bike sharing platform, and green space development.

Across the city, key information and communication technology initiatives will be taken up to enhance the operational efficiency and ensure citizen delight. These initiatives include augmentation of city command and control center, augmentation of city network and city wide Wi-Fi, citizen app, common city card payment systems, digital sign boards, emergency response systems, ERP, smart kiosks, smart meters (water and power), smart parking, and city surveillance.

India badly needs the nextgen cities like GIFT. The cities like Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi etc have become unviable and saturated. A good city needs following aspects:
Opportunities in terms of business & profession, good Standard of living, affordability & Environment friendly. GIFT City has achieved in most of the aspects to be considered as best place to work & live. I am sure that GIFT City will emerge among top 10 cities in the world for living and working.

GIFT CITY is the best smart city of India and has already created a benchmark for development of many such Smart Cities in the Country. The state-of-the-art Infrastructure, Integrated Urban development and Green Design principles make GIFT City a unique destination. Application of Smart Solutions will enable cities to use technology, information and data to improve infrastructure and services. Comprehensive development in this way will improve quality of life

GIFT City is the India first City which has the International Finance Service Centre (IFSC) operations in India. GIFT City’s object is to provide core infrastructure and give decent quality of life to its citizens residing in the city, a clean and sustainable environment with the application of smart solutions. Ensuring E-Governance & Citizens Services, Transport Facility, Free People Movement and The Digital Connectivity in place should be part of the plan.

GIFT City is a vision of Hon'ble Prime Minister and first IFSC certified city in India having potential of becoming the main hub for financial & IT services with standard living concept and providing such type of flawless Services( i.e.- Power availability, Water treatment plant, District Cooling System, Automatic Waste collection etc.) which will inspire other upcoming smart cities.

Power Reliability and Power quality is the core of power concept in GIFT. GIFT is targeting power availability factor 99.999% in a year.

GIFT is a Smart city in making, with unique facility to every building for power Distribution. All developers are connected by dual feed of feeders with centralised backup power system. Redundancy of all system segment N-1.

GIFT is the vision of our Hon'ble Prime Minister, the potential of the state as the hub for the financial & IT services industry and envisaged the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) as smart city. Hon’ble Prime Minister’s vision behind GIFT is, "To tie-up with technology, to create a hub complete with infrastructure, to meet the needs of modern Gujarat, modern India and to create a space in the global financial world."

Such #Mammoth projects needs #Vision...
Ability to see the future and grasp the potential.
and #GIFT is one of such pioneering effort.

On one fine day you will definitely see the documentary on NatGeo or Discovery covering #GIFT city as an example for the sustainable future cities.

#GIFT city is a start of transformation and the #Era has just began..
