The girl child today faces inequality and gender based discriminations even before birth. The nation cannot move forward unless women are given opportunity to realize their full potential and contribute to nation building.

Given this context, please share your thoughts, ideas, suggestions and feedback on how we can change the discriminatory social construct in order to celebrate the girl child. What should be our communication strategy for improving the situation and reach out to people?

Everything in this world works if it is related to money. I think it's better to link this program someway with money. So that everybody will work for this great mission.

The government should abolish reservation and let the girls compete with boys on merit as they are equally talented. Reservation is in a sense undermining one's capability to compete on merit when one is competent enough. The government should instead provide girls with books and finances and all other help which would help them pursue education without any undue advantage.

Many other problems arise because of the unjustified policy planning by policy makers. In the name of empowerment they launch policies and programs which has nothing to do with empowerment and just gives an undue advantage to them like lowering the age limit to 58 years for women for getting senior citizens discount in railway reservations, getting seats reserved for them in government jobs etc.

Most of the problems of the girls can be solved by changing the patriarchal mindset and social sensitization of the males and by creating awareness that girls are equal to men in all areas of life and should be neither be subjugated nor subjected to cruelty harassment or torture.

While contemplating and thinking of women empowerment a host of ideas crop up because of the myriad number of problem girls and women face in society viz crimes (molestation, murder, cruelty, torture), social discrimination (lack of opportunities- educational, job opportunities etc) or certain other problems which are common. A lot of schemes are launched and many of those implemented to ameliorate them. But the root cause of the problems is never given its due importance.
