Our students need to have a holistic development which cannot be achieved only through information and instruction. Knowledge needs sensitization to values, ethics, appreciating ...
I would like to suggest following changes while teaching the subject of music in the schools.
Suggestions
1. Common syllabus for all schools for music as a subject.
2. Breakup of the syllabus in the modules.
3. Complete time line, for teaching the subject, for each academic year, in the form of lesson plan.
4. Common songs to be selected for teaching.
5. Main aim should be on ‘Corus singing’ while choosing the song.
6. Activity oriented teaching.
We must sow values For this all must be taken to social task like serving in hospital . old age homes blind schools etc. This will make them aware of challenges we face and develop a humane attitude.
Our children should be made to undergo rigorous PE & Life Skills sessions. These are two pillars of success for people in life. One molds our discipline, attitude, approach, coping mechanism, mental makeup & strategy building while the other helps to present ourselves on a forum & communicate effectively. Both factors are game changers. Ethics can be taught but a lot depends on the home & social environment. Arts & Craft are essential for refinement of the persona in the long run.
Primary education should be overhauled. Children from 1st 3rd std should only be taught moral values and nothing else. This is the system followed in highly developed countries like GERMANY. This will make them better citizens.
2.11 शिशुओं में माँ-बहनों का भाव जरूरी
सदभावी सत्यान्वेषी बन्धुओं ! उत्तम एवं सदाचारी व्यक्तित्त्व निर्माण हेतु शिशुओं में स्त्रियों-लड़कियों के प्रति माँ-बहनों का भाव भरना अनिवार्यत: पहलू है । जितनी औरतें माँ के योग्य (15 वर्ष से अधिक उम्र की) हों उन सभी के प्रति माँ का तथा शेष समस्त लड़कियों में बहन देखने का ही भाव भरना चाहिए । --क्रमश--

2.9 शिशु ही सुदृढ़ सामाजिक संरचना का आधार सदभावी सत्यान्वेषी बन्धुओं ! शिशु ही किसी परिवार सरकार अथवा धर्म- समाज का एकमात्र आधार बिन्दु होता है । इसलिए किसी भी परिवार, सरकार या समाज को सम्पन्न, सुदृढ़ एवं उत्कृष्टतम् बनाने हेतु शिशुओं के लालन-पालन के समुचित व्यवस्था के साथ ही शिक्षा-दीक्षा की व्यवस्था पर भी विशेष ध्यान देने की अनिवार्यत: आवश्यकता है । शिशु एक कोरा-कागज (सादा कागज) होता है ।--क्रमश---

सदभावी सत्यान्वेषी बन्धुओं ! यदि अनुशासित एवं कर्मठ तथा सुदृढ़ एवं सम्पन्न समाज स्थित-स्थापित करना है तो उसके लिए यह आवश्यकता है कि शिशुओं के लालन-पालन के साथ ही संस्कृति परक शिक्षा-दीक्षा की व्यवस्था हो, सभ्यता परक नहीं । बालकों का आन्तरिक उत्थान (विकास) हुए बगैर बाहय चाहे जितना भी विकास हो जाय, शान्ति और आनन्द अथवा अमन-चैन का वातावरण कदापि नहीं बन सकता। --क्रमश-- bsbg.org/2.aspx#section29

We need good and dedicated teachers for this. And for good teachers we need a clean and productive education system. With the previous system of last 60 years we do have some good teachers but they are not enough in numbers for our need of today. So right now we have to manage with existing teachers by trained them well. With these trained teacher we can only manage to make the situation from worse to better but with better environment we can create enough good teachers in next 20 years.
All disciplines including arts, science, commerce etc must be given equal importance!There must not be any difference between playing sport or studying engineering only then we can have a true holistic approach towards education! The key is to connect schools, colleges with various other institutions like sports, music etc.
