A new educational hub in some new area should be created. Dehradun is known for its quality school education but lacks in higher education despite lots of good institutes are coming up. With research option in the new educational hub will open door for employment and help in economic growth of this area.

A green field development option can be taken up in the pattern of some well planned cities of India, like Chandigarh.

I m juz 13 . I feel v shlud preserve tea gardens as a bio diversity zones. Role of media is always suspecious.
On 13 march 70% votes were in favor of smart city . Tday 69% r in favor. Online polling is rigged.
Gov is misleding d studens. Sum people think dat all d issues will b solved if new city comes up.
SUM EMINENT POLITICIAN OF RULING AND OPPOSITION PARTy R ALSO AGAINST D SMARTCITY.
THEY KNW DAT EXISTING CITY SHULD B GIVN A FACELIFT.
Lets cm togthr 2 save d CitYS HERITAGE. Wake up.

New city in the adjacent area like tea estate can be done, if eco system is maintained. As Mr sundaram told that he would place 4 trees against each fell down trees, this way I am ok with new city because this will not only ease down population and traffic pressure in the existing city but would be able to create lots of employment opportunity.

I think new city (green field option) is good one provided it gives us a world class infrastructure, good education hub etc.

Yes, government must create employment opportunities by creating smart city. Green field
development coupled with retrofitting of existing city is a good idea.

Please please please make the city less congested, develop satellite towns. Develop the tea estate area into a new and modern city , any way no tea is being planted there.

Green field, as I came to know through some comment from this section means development of new city in some open area. This broke the myth in my mind that green field development does not mean destroying greenery but it means development of new city in some open area. This is a must for Dehradun to survive, please go ahead I am with it.

very good initiative by the government. dehradun badly need de-congestion of the city. A city meant for 1 to 2 lakhs of population cannot handle the pressure of 8 lakhs population as of now, thus new city is must with some existing city services can be improved.
