Substandard teachers will produce substandard students and citizens consequently. PTC course done after 12 standard is just not sufficient to work as teachers.

As such teachers should be highly paid employees. The reason for selecting mature (both agewise and qualification wise)candidates as teachers for primary standards is that they will not mishandle the students and also they can solve the curiosity of children to the full extent.

Teacher is the person who is responsible for constructing a mainstream society. But he is powerless.Teacher must be given a special status like Public representatives of Legislative assembly.

1. we do have sufficient professional teachers but the passionate ones are missing. The recruitment policy of teachers needs a change. The pattern of recruitment must be same as selecting an officer in the defence forces.i.e. A written test followed by a SSB. 2. There is no accountability for the teachers after orientation & re orientation programmes as it has been seen that the attitudinal change attained in such programmes hardly reflect at ground zero.

1) All India Teachers Exam for specialized training followed by Interview to check that one has keen interest in teaching of one is just try to get job. 2) Promote teaching as 'Social Service' rather than a job for less competitive people 3) No compromise on quality of teachers - standards of selection of teachers should be same for all. 4) B.Ed or M.Ed programs should be monitored properly and private institutions should be abolished in training of teachers.
