The Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development (MSMED) Act of 2006 has been a critical piece of legislation in India aimed at promoting the growth and development of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the country. Over the years, various amendments have been proposed and implemented to further strengthen the Act and address the evolving needs of the SME sector.
One of the key amendments to the MSMED Act, 2006, was the revision of the definition of micro, small, and medium enterprises based on their turnover and investment in plant and machinery. This revision was done to align the classification of enterprises with the changing economic scenario and ensure that the benefits and incentives provided under the Act reach the intended beneficiaries.
