Town and cities in India are undergoing continuous physical expansion and densification along with growth in urban population. Inner cores of many cities have older areas that require redevelopment to accommodate the present needs of the city. One of the key requirements is greater availability of land for public use like roads and other open spaces. Redevelopment for these areas can be undertaken by preparing a Local Area Plan.

A large part of city expansion takes place on urban fringes in an unplanned way. In such a scenario, agricultural plots with haphazard geometry are converted to urban use and little attention is paid to provision of urban infrastructure. Planned urban expansion can be provided through the Town Planning Scheme (Land Readjustment) mechanism wherein existing agricultural plots are merged and redistributed in a planned way after making deductions for street RoW and land for public uses. The urban infrastructure is financed by Value Capture Financing like betterment charges and sale of reserved plots.

The proposed sub-scheme intends to focus on these three vital issues; (i) Inner City Redevelopment through Local Area Plans, (ii) Planned Urban Expansion through Town Planning Scheme and (iii) ensuring training and capacity building of planners at the local level.

Good Initiatives as I have seen the cities are really in trouble and well identified locations and an observations it is lag basic needs of infra and governance result in dump agri and move to cities. How could one stop for better tomorrow... may suggest a good school with the facilities for faculty and right funding... this brings good eco system... suggest to focus on school, hospital, sports complex.... with good sincere governance... things will change...

If Namo wants success on this front, then he must first subdivide all cities in terms of population. Thus, if Mumbai has a population of say, 2 crore, then it must be subdivided into at least 40 sub cities of population 5 lacs each. Each sub city should be given a free hand to make itself a smart city. The 40 sub cities would then be competing against each other by using the money given by the center, most efficiently. The bad performers would learn from the better performers.

For smart cities first awareness on self discipline is most important factor.
Lot of study needs to be done on waste management & also cities to be decentralize with extension of basic facility like drainage ,water ,light ,hospital etc.

With the Cities and Villages becoming Smart, the Food Options in these Cities and Villages need to get Smarter and Healthier.

THE HOMTAURANTS seek to become a Global Platform for serving Authentic/Traditional Indian Dishes, with due focus on creating Women Entrepreneurs, thereby developing SMART FOOD CITIES, contributing towards Hon'ble Prime Minister Mr Narendra Modi's vision of Digital India and Cashless Society, & creating one more recognition for India as "The Country of THE HOMTAURANTS".

I am from Siliguri,WB. Running a NGO,CENTRE FOR MITIGATION OF CLIMATE CHANGE AND GLOBAL WARMING.
Our objective is to aware people and School children about the threats of climate change.
In this respect Iwold like to suggest that every city must have an meteorological observatory to inform people about the on going weather and record clinatic variables to monitor the changes. This can also help to fight natural disaster, epidemic, ground water level, air pollution, help tourists.

Smart cities should have smart transportation, preferably metro. Cities in India mostly cluster around a central place with residence as well as commercial place. There should be commercial place at the centre of the city well connected with the fringes where in ppl reside. These fringe zones should have basic amenity like schools, hospitals, shopping places etc and very good law & order.
Last but not the least a folded hand request please have mercy on rivers and trees;save & use them judiciously!

KEEN (Keeping the Environment Ecologically Natural).
I am the V Chairman of this organisation and the Mussoorie Nagar Palika Mussoorie has given us 6 wards to collect waste from, not to mention the responsibility of the government dry waste sorting shed. We collect waste that has already been segregated into organic and recyclable waste by a very supportive public. We then further segregate into glass, 4 types of metal, 6 types of paper, 4 types of plastic, glass and send it for recycling.

the houses constructed by common people in the cities are not at all smart or safe in the extreme conditions of wind or earthquake.practically no service of engineers or architect are taken during construction and most of the construction is substandard from structural point of view. Though municipal norms are there but municipalties are unable to enforce the same.how do we make smart cities or even cities with poor quality houses Awareness as well as enforcement are essential inthis
regard

The waste management has to be managed locally at street levels with a monitoring team like self help group. Competition can be conducted every month at Zonal level and proper recognition should be given. This will create better involvement by the people at street level.there should be proper utilisation of swatch Bharat fund and people should made aware of such spends from the government. They will feel happy if they understand that their money is being spent for their well being.
