Electronic waste (e-waste) creates a global crisis due to environmental degradation. India, as a growing economy, is facing serious challenges in managing the volume of generated e-waste due to lack of environmental awareness and socio-economic issues. Major concern of e-waste management in India is its recycling undertaken by non-formal sector not adhering to health and environmental norms.

While e-waste poses a problem for the environment it is also a source of valuable resources and contains a number of precious metal and mineral resources, which are available in very limited quantities in nature.

While Ministry of Environment and Forests and Climate Change is involved in enacting laws, guidelines referring to e-waste and has formulated the E-Waste (Management and Handling) Rules, 2010 wrt safe handling of e-waste, Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY) has addressed indigenous technology development through its R&D efforts to recycle e-waste and extract pressure resources following environment and health norms.

In this direction DeitY has initiated a demonstration plant to showcase its developed technology of processing printed circuit boards (PCB) to recover precious metals at Bangalore. DeitY also proposes to provide capital subsidy to authorized recyclers for processing e-waste similar to support available under the M-SIPS scheme of DeitY. Further recyclers using indigenous technology could be given additional advantage.

DeitY seeks views and suggestion to address the e-waste issues both in term of technology development as well as policy initiatives.

Comments should be received by 10th February, 2015.

Number of vehicles & accidents are increasing. Most important thing to do is to increase penalties for traffic offenses and ruthlessly implement traffic rules. For driving without license, put the driver in jail for 6 mths. For drunken driving, exceeding speed limits, going thru no entries etc driving license should be cancelled plus a penalty Rs 5000 imposed. For offences like parking in no parking zones, crossing the yellow line etc, the penalty Rs 5000. Implement these and see the result.

The Government should understand that if it wants to retain its glory, it should take every effort to end corruption from the society. The corrupt politicians and officials should be brought before justice and given severe punishment. The acts should be amended to give death penalty to the corrupt ministers and IAS/senior officers, life imprisonment to other people’s representatives and 10 years in jail to all others. That is the only way. The Government need do nothing else.

E waste is negligible as compared to solid & wet waste. there is a need to focus on the recycling of all waste with commercial angle. one need to make is commercially viable to recycle waste. government should guide ways for it & financial help through banks for such projects.

Dear sir, instead of analyzing the defeat in Delhi . I request pease ask your all MP to work on ground for those place from where they got elected. I feel in that case you won't have to invest much during election.

PM -It is evident that Congress voted for AAP hence AAP won handsomely. BJP must introspect & realise that in India you can't have communal agenda or be silent when some communal elements raise ugly slogans. Had MPs been punished the results could have been better for BJP. BJP's majority in LS is not for its ideology but because people saw in Modiji a leader who is decisive & can deliver ache din. People are feeling now that its all talk & no action. Tangible results needed. low hanging fruits ?
