Not only that the NGO's are to be encouraged to reach out to rural areas and slums in cities to make the population understand the importance of energy conservation. Media can also play a role by advertising. The message has to go to every nook and corner on how to save energy. Then only we will see a significant savings. The electrical distribution companies should be penalised for losses too.

One thing always strikes my mind, we learnt in our school that any mechanical energy can be converted to electrical energy, now we are generating same from wind, why not with sea tide ? 3/4 of Indian border is covered with sea, imagine how simple it is and enormous in quantity, if could be made a pilot project and implemented.
