Solar Lighting systems are the best way to energy conservation. Instead of subsidies there should be soft loan schemes for purchase of solar systems. That loan should be easily available.

Use solar lamps for reading, task lighting and as night lamps. Use DC lighting (LED) with solar system. It is energy efficient and not costly.

All the street lights should have automatic control to switch on at dusk and switch off at dawn. This is a very simple and low cost electronic circuit, but this can save enormous energy. all the sodium vapour lamp / Neon Lamp must be replaced by LED light . this will save more than 70% energy used for street light.

Indoor walls of our homes my be painted in white or very light colour so that one finds enough brightness even with low power cfls or leds. Switch off the light when there is bright outside is a common saying...this is a necessary habit for all members of a family. Avoid crt monitor and use LCD display. In summer one should call the fan mechanic to smoothen the motor of the fans which will reduce energy consumption. Finally use"Energy Star" appliances only.

That is one thing which every members of a household should practice. But the problem is we do go on saying but hardly it is followed by the people.More awareness should be made..we need more advertisements like Swacch Bharat to enable the feeling of shame while misusing energy.May be the officials of the electric board should go door by door to send the message it would create an atmosphere where people like to respond to the personal requests made be the high officials.
