“The earth, water and the air are not a gift to us from our parents but a loan from our children.” ---Anonymous

Energy resources have transformed human lives and lifestyles. Energy resources have allowed for human achievement and ambition to move from the potter’s wheel, farmer’s plough and the weaver’s loom to space missions and robots among others. However, the modern world looms in the shadow of a severe energy crisis: the result of unsustainable and inefficient use of energy resources.

Unsustainable and inefficient energy consumption threatens the very basis of life as we have come to know it. In the face of the increasing scarcity of energy resources it is imperative that we launch a committed, concerted and cumulative effort towards holistic energy use habits and sustainable consumption patterns.

Energy conservation most importantly means that conservation becomes an all pervasive habit, an everyday philosophy and practice that aims to reduce the consumption of fossil fuels, adoption of energy efficient lifestyles and fostering innovations in green and clean energy technologies.

D&NHPDCL invites suggestions, guidance, comments from citizens, self-help groups, environmental organisations towards developing Energy Conservation as a habit towards an energy secure future.

We have seen many official and govt. meeting where all the dignitaries were served mineral water of 1 liter for their use. Most of the time and in actual scenario, we find that these mineral water bottles are used merely 1/4th. First, there is the loss of water, the much needed natural resources and secondly charge of these bottles is a useless burden. We can use 500 ml water bottles in place of 1 liter bottles or we can use packed glass water for these types of meetings.

In today's life we use energy in everywhere either it is provided by nature or produce by ourselves. Energy is produced by natural, by fuel or other resources. In nature some resources are conventional and that are limited so we have to change our lifestyle and technology to reduce energy consumption as low as we can . Unconventional resources can be use in our daily life . Some changes and suggestions about conservation of energy given in attached file.

Energy for Water pumping is substantial .As it has to be drawn from borewells, open wells, rivers. My point is wherever hydel dams are situated the water head is available free .There's no sense in generating hydel power to be reused in electrical water pumps .As efficiency will be least for conversion in generation, electrical transmission,Govt should fix a economical radius downstream near the hydel dam to avoid water repumping for human consumption and Agriculture. This can save energy for lights

To make our country greener I feel every parent should adopt two or three tree saplings on child's first birthday as a good gesture to the country. The government should provide free locations near cities ,towns .The plants should be in custody of the government.can be turned into large gardens, water to be provided, tree grown suitable for the weather in the area with least water consumption. The spacing ,with clear planning for 50 yrs.If fruit bearing tree's are planted should be for children free

Further to my earlier comment: The energy efficiency certificates have been successfully used in other countries. I have the full details and can help implement the idea.
Demand side management is of vital importance before we embark on increasing generation using solar or other type of power plants.
Uniform country wide net metering standards have to be implemented to encourage people to go for roof top solar systems.

The distribution of LED bulbs and tube lights is excellent. But we have to ensure that these are used and not circulated back to the market again and again.
Payments for these through electricity bills was tried in Nasik and Jalna earlier but the MESB failed the supplier.
Spreading awareness is very important for the success of this scheme. Centre/state governments can come up with Energy Efficiency Certificates for use of efficient lights and other accessories.

As a continuation to my previous post - use of solar operated De-Salination Plants could help save ground water in all coastal towns / villages / cities of the country.

The suggestion mentioned here is based on a news article https://www.technologyreview.com/s/601419/to-make-fresh-water-without-warming-the-planet-countries-eye-solar-power/
