Sustainable Exploitation of oil and gas potential of the North East region could be a harbinger of economic prosperity for the people of the region. Presently there seems to be a ...
North East is economically backward region where local communities with income level below the poverty line certified by state governments should be given preference in employment in exploration and production activities of ONGC and Oil India. The Contractors in exploration and production activities for ONGC and Oil India should facilitate in getting the certificates from state government for below the poverty line people as they can not afford to get certificate from corrupt officials of state goverment. This will ensure greater participation of local communities with the below the povertyline income.
North East has 34% of the country’s water resources and possesses almost 40% of India’s hydro power potential so we have to invite private power companies to utilise this more to produce power than asking for hydro power from bhutan and nepal.
Revisit the Border Trade Agreement
with Myanmar and substantially
increase the list of tradable items
through barter system.n the absence of a realistic exchange
rate, growth of exports to Myanmar
has suffered. The official exchange
rate of Myanmar’s currency kyat is
hugely inflated. However, in the
informal market the rate is 25 to 30
Kyat for a rupee.
Posting the Ministry of External
Affairs and commerce ministry officials in each state of north east India that
has international borders to facilitate border trade
Ten border townships should be set up
at Moreh, Zokhawthar, Avankhung,
Pangsau Pass, Akahura, Karimganj,
Dawki, Gasuapara, Mankachar and
Daranga to improve trade between India & the neighbouring countries.
A
257-km railway route from Jawahar
Nagar railway station in north Tripura
to Kolasib in northern Mizoram and
Myanmar’s Darlon has been proposed
to connect with the TAR network. If
Tripura and Manipur are linked with
the TAR network, the north eastern
states would be the gateway to South
East Asian countries.
It is proposed that a ring road should
be developed connecting all the north
eastern states. The road would cover
a distance of around 4,000 km and
would mostly follow existing road
alignments, except for a few small
stretches.
The network will connect Bhutan
to the IWT terminal in Dhubri and
beyond to Bangladesh and Kolkata
through the IWT mode. It will make
the IWT terminal at Dhubri attractive
for exporting goods to Bhutan.
4. ONGC and other oil PSUs can bring in their domain expertise and experience in training local youth in oil exploration jobs.
5. Govt can utilize experience of these PSU s to ensure faster results in building oil exploration and production industry in north east.
Why are we increasing the duty of petrol again. Infact government should pass the benefits to the customer. Price has been down 40% since june but govt reduced only 8% for petrol. Need to have more transparency and people friendly governance
