Sustainable Exploitation of oil and gas potential of the North East region could be a harbinger of economic prosperity for the people of the region. Presently there seems to be a disconnect between the local communities and the Exploration and Production (E&P) operators in the region. This seems to be discouraging E&P activities in the region thereby reducing the number of takers for operations in the region. Although the Govt. of India has been taking several initiatives to promote E&P in the NER, it is essential to make the local communities an important stakeholder in the process.

Suggestions are invited from the public which could encourage people's participation in these activities.

Importing crude from
neighbouring countries such as
Myanmar which have rich petroleum
and gas reserves. There are four
refineries in the state of Assam with a
total refining capacity of ~ 7 million
tonnes of crude annually. the region will have sufficient surplus
of refinery products for export.

Some of suggestions
1.local unemployed youth can be put into exploration work by covering this under mnrega programme.
2.attracting participation from private sector exploration and refining companies to setup production facilities in north east, in return they should be offered tax rebates, land at concessional rates, providing required infrastructure, power, water to be provided at concessional rates.
3. Providing technical training courses to youth in oil exploration and production.

"Pricing of petroleum products are not very transparent and the government should allow an independent regulator to fix and monitor prices, especially when state refiners have near monopoly on sale of auto fuels,

India is a country with high population density. We cannot decrease our population but we can increase our area.I am not saying to conquer any nation. But there are many nations with low population and vast area. One of such nation is Russia.Kamchatka peninsula is a province in Russia which is least populated. India can purchase Kamchatka peninsula from Russia. Then India, Japan and South Korea can jointly develop that area

Its a good thing to hear that "petrol prices" have been slashed many times in recent times. Since the deregulation of pricing in 2013, the revision of price takes place every fortnight as per the variations in global crude prices. But there is no uniformity in the tax structure for each state. A uniform tax structure on petrol price needs to be in place to remove disparity in different states. Please do bring in a uniform tax structure on petrol price across the country - Thanking you
