As a social entrepreneur, I have started Ahmedabad's Differently Abled Group ( ADAG ). At Social Spaces, we want to create social platforms for people with disability - adventure, hobby sessions, travel trips, education, organize events, music concerts, heritage walks, stand-up comedy, treks and other activities to cater to their needs. Through this initiative, we want to ensure people with disability are able to do everything that they want to do.

Gautam Chaudhury In the draft national policy on skill development the plan is to have a 'horizontal' SSC for persons with disability. Why identify specific trades for ‘each category'? The criteria are based on the disability and not on 'different abilities'. So in the very beginning itself one is discriminated - then look for 'specific trades'? This traditional approach needs to be discarded. Inclusivity has to be an integral part of all structures and institutions.

We need to update our laws, orders, and procedures in educational and employment surroundings. Also we should check if we discriminate disabled people in access to work place, tours, attending meetings, conferences, handling various equipments wherever possible, commutation to work and back home etc.

Flexible timings,part time jobs, work at home environs shall go a long way in helping disabled people taste the job opportunities available and reap out of it. Accessibility is another issue we should concentrate on. Buildings, work places, toilets, conference halls, equipment, even comfortable seating arrangements need to be relenished if we care for disabled friends. Third most important thing is look for complaints of sexual abuse of disabled women at work place.

श्री प्रधानमंत्रीजीमहोदय आपने विकलांग भाई बहनों के लिए रेलयात्रा में दिये जाने वाली रियायत के बारे में जो कहा उसका स्वागत करते हुए यह सुझाव देने का प्रयास कर रहा हूं कि राजस्थान रोडवेज द्वारा जो रियायती स्मार्ट कार्ड प्रदान किया है,उसी तर्ज पर रेलयात्रा रियायती स्मार्ट कार्ड बनवाये जाए जो संपूर्ण भारत मे काम आकर विकलांगों की मदद कर सके। साथ ही यह विदित हो कि भारतीय रेल द्वारा रियायत संबंधी आदेश जारी किया जा चुका है परंतु क्रियान्वयन नहीं हो पाने हमे यात्रा करने मे असुविधा होती रहती है।सधन्यवाद।
