Roughly 1% of GDP is spent on higher education as against a target of 1.5%. In the recent years, the state share of expenditure on education has declined as compared to an increase in Central expenditure on education. How can we address the financial resource constraints in higher education?

Indian Multinational/Global Company categorically, appropriate funds contribution to Higher Eduaction should be fixed. All PSU's and Registered Company/Firms of India should contribute to Higher education Investment by funds contribution per annum.
Now Tax Payer is only contributing to Education Cess, every household or every individual seeking HE should be contributed. Both Central and State Government should be shared financial investment appropriately w.r.t Public direct tax Collection.

If you are a MBBS aspirant in Telangana first you have to die studying and then after getting a seat die paying the fees. As if the fee hike from 2.5 lakhs p.a to 9 lakhs p.a wasn't enough the colleges now demand a bank guarantee of 36 lakhs to be submitted before 31rst of august 2015 failing which the college can shift your seat to NRI quota and sell it at more then a crore. With all permission from the government. #struggledfornewstate #suchashame #ironic independence

Education should be recognized as a basic need and right. Anyone desirous of higher education should be facilitated that opportunity. More loans should be made available to this sector instead of creating massive NPAs by financing debt laden industries.
I hope the government and RBI take course correction initiatives.

Students must get education loans quicker. These loans should be interest free in course period and after that interest rates should be low. It is irony that education loan is provided at 13.50% p.a. interest rate, while other loans which are highly insecure are provided at much less rates. Govt. should conduct national scholarship test at each level to give scholarships to students without any discrimination of caste. It should be only on the basis of economic standards.
