Give suggestions on Imposition of ban on use of Plastic Carry Bags/Cups/Plates and allied items in Chandigarh

Start Date :

Taking serious note of the latest decision of the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the Chandigarh Administration has speed up the enforcement of ban imposed on the use of polythene ...
3. In case of plastic plates and cups, they have to be furnished in a special packaging, so that the same packaging can be used to collect the used plates and cups.
5. Garbage department can segragate, for now. Later its all on public awareness.
Govt. can arrange IVR calls to inform citizens of this initiative on a monthly basis.
That can work!
Every person, who have commented till now, still ask for carry bags in malls. If not stoppable, I have a workaround.
1. If charged for carrybags, then provide better careybags, that can be reused.
2. The facilitator, be it shop or mall, should also collect unusable or torn carry bags back from the customer. And provide new ones and a discount on purchase.
Some goods simply need carry bags, like meat or frozen food, or heavy quantity. Only in those cases provide carry bags.
Cont'd.
the govt should stop production of plastic bags, this will help in curtailing availability, once there is no availability, then people will automatically find alternatives, that you should leave to people.
First BAN MANUFACTURING OF PLASTIC CARRY BAGS AND OTHER ITEMS. Then educate the people.
Dear All, My humble submission is to find suitable alternative of polythene carry bags. These are destroying our mother planet earth. We have no other alternative to live in this universe . Amen
CHANDIGARH - BAN PLASTICS
1. Appeal to public to modify their habits and offer them good alternatives
2. Initiate "Carry your own eco friendly bag" shopping campaign.
3. Awareness campaign "Alternatives to plastics" for industrial and retail consumers
4. Promote the concept of green functions, government, weddings etc.
5. Avoid buying soft drinks in plastic packs
6. Milk companies, "Say no to polypacks, and yes to vending machines"

Even though official ban on plastic carry bags exists...implementation is not strict.....make a more strict law preventing use of banned plastic in any form........
Ban Plastic Carry Bags/Cups/Plates and all other formats.
NECESSITY IS THE MOTHER OF INVENTION.. ONCE POLYTHENE IS BANNED AND STRICTLY ALLOW ONLY USE OF BAGS WHICH ARE BIODEGRADABLE BY NATURE, NEW INVENTIONS WILL COME UP AUTOMATICALLY.. WE CANT WAIT FOR OUR NATURE TO BE DESTROYED AND WHEN THE THINGS GO OUT OF OUR HAND. SIMPLY BAN POLYTHENE AND USE ONLY BIO DEGRADABLE BAGS..
Local bodies are not interested in such activites, central govt & state govt shd ensure whethere programme given by the respective govts r implemented propely.
