Dadra & Nagar Haveli is well connected by road and Rail with rest of the country. The NH-8 provides the major road connectivity to the study area. With rapid Urbanization and industrial growth in Dadra & Nagar Haveli UT, the population and vehicles have increased rapidly in the recent past years. This resulted in traffic congestion in the urban areas. UT Administration has frequently initiated steps for betterment of heavy vehicular traffic plying in this UT and having appreciated the existing problems and constraints felt that there is a strong need for improvement of Infrastructure in Road Sector in a planned manner to meet the growing demand.

The Report provides information about the regulatory and economic context in which the Territory’s heavy vehicle industrial traffic operates. The term traffic safety refers to the risk of a person being killed or seriously injured while using the traffic network as a pedestrian, cyclist or user of public or private transport. The importance of traffic safety is obvious; traffic accounts for many deaths and injuries. Measures can be taken in order to reduce the number of casualties and injuries greatly.

Promote Bicycle riding. Now a days people felt shame to ride on bicycle. They think that people will laugh on him and they will think that he is miser. Now a days these perception is common in whole india. At least in 1 day people should go office by bicycle if they can. and company should appriciate these employee. So best way to make a notification to all company that their employee should come office at least 1 day from bicycle those who can travel. There should be reserve parking for bicycle.

Make all(existing and Past)Driving license information online to police. Make penality after 1 or 2 voilation and after 3rd voliation their license should be suspenend. Give small tablet to all trafic police so that they can check license details online and impose fine and make entry on the spot.Connect these license with addhar no. In india many person have 3-4 license and they easily voilate the rules. Everyone loves their driving license and they do not want suspension.

More than 100000 people die in road accidents in India every year.
60% of transport vehicles plying on highways does not have fumctional tail lights and / or indicator lights. It is so dangerous especially during nights. There should be heavy penalty on vehicles driving on her highways without functional tail lights and indicators.
Implementation of the same will make our highways safer.

This is my first ever post in mygov.in and I must confess that I'm clueless on where exactly to post my suggestions on Road Traffic & Safety rules, which is relevant to the whole nation and not just a city.

For ex: the confusion over "Right of Way" in roads - the perennial problem that continues to haunt many of us. A simple step like "Give way road markings" can help.
Unsurprisingly -without such markings- many fellow indians never want to relinquish their God-given right (of way).

1)Stop working on Saturday in office. All schools, public and private offices (except hospitals/railway etc.) should be stopped.
2)Promote bus, train and metro. Car pooling should be must.
3)Stop all manufacturing of two wheelers beyond 350 CC and stop four wheelers beyond 2 Ltr diesel/petrol engine. Stop local made diesel engines for three wheelers.

This is the cheap and 'logical' solution to Delhi's air problem. Being from an IIT, i am surprised that AK ji has rather resorted to a failed odd even formula in Beijing.

Air-purifying billboard does the work of 1,200 trees- http://www.gizmag.com/utecs-air-purifying-billboard-installed-at-lima/31931/

Need to consider following...
1. By-pass roads for heavy vehicles, they should not enter in the city
2. Clean and hawker "thela" free Foot-paths
3. The cops needs to be more honest
4. Strict traffic rules
5. Add some more public transport options like Taxis, Buses
6. If possible banned auto rickshaw, the main culprit for traffic congestion
