Existence of insanitary latrines is the root cause of manual scavenging. As per the ‘Houselisting and Housing Census Data, 2011’, there were about 26 lakh insanitary latrines in the country in 2011. All existing insanitary latrines need to be identified and either demolished or converted into sanitary latrines under the provisions of the MS Act.

What innovations can be used to convert insanitary latrines into sanitary latrines in shortest possible time?

Sir, Cow dung vermicompost sells one$ /lbs in USA and UK ie. Rs.125/Kg, because they know that savings made in irrigation water justify the high price of vermicompost Indian vermicompost is only Rs.4/kg. No body values organic fertilizer due to Chemical fertilizer lobby. India spends Rs one lac Crores annually on fertilizers subsidy. Save Indian cow to promote Organic agriculture to save money make, farmers rich and nation healthy. Have a Cow ministry , Health and agriculture its part.

Sir, You said very correctly that Water is the costliest input for the farmers. Next in line are chemical fertilizers and seeds. Cow dung recycled into soil practically eliminates the need for water irrigation and chemical fertilizers and also the seeds for buying. Cow in India made our farmer the richest in the world. गाव उपावतावतम्‌ मही यज्ञस्य रप्सुदा | उभा कर्णा हिरण्यया || ऋ 8.72.12 Cows make soil rich and moist and bountiful like a Yajna, makes people rich to wear gold earrings.

We observe that the transition is taking place in the towns. How to quicken this effort and to extend this to the villages is the matter to be discussed with the workers, the employees and the social welfare department. Even researchers can be pressed in to service to tackle this fundamental problem. Group living in flats can attack this problem successfully. Flat promotors can be entrusted/ asked to get involved in this process. Mahalir Kuzhukkal ,being succesful can be used.

The Forward Markets has yet not banned forward trading in jeera, the principal crop of Gujarat and Rajasthan, although everyone in the market and trading, farmers community know the big bats by speculators and big stockists by hoarding the big quantity of stock thereby creating artificial shortage. The market trend is controlled by them who manipulate the price both ways. The crop situation this year in India and abroad is also not good, so they are exploiting the situation with their money.

Some over enthusiastics have built temple of shri Narendra Modi in Rajkot and prepared aarti of our prime minister. Before it is late, the government should stop this type of hypocricy or it will dent image of our prime minister.

One thing that can be done is by giving the maintenance of the latrines should be given to some private bodies. In return those private bodies should be allowed to advertise around the building of latrine.
