A huge amount of Govt. money is spent on subsidy of petroleum products. The Govt. had to spend Rs. 1,39,869 crore on account of subsidy on petroleum products in the year 2013-14. As, the indigenous availability of crude Oil and LPG is limited, these are imported in huge quantities to fulfill the demand of the country.  As Govt. provides domestic LPG and PDS Kerosene on subsidised price, this results in huge subsidy burden on Govt. Due to presence of dual pricing(subsidized and non-subsidized) in LPG and SKO, there is a diversion of subsidized LPG and Kerosene into commercial usage. Although Govt. has taken several initiatives to reduce this diversion of subsidized LPG and PDS Kerosene, public participation is solicited to suggest ways for reducing diversion in LPG and PDS Kerosene.

You are invited to suggest ideas to reduce diversion and the subsidy burden on account of LPG and Kerosene.

Sir, my question is only that a huge amount of waste is produced everyday in our cities, why don't we recycle it (in place of dumping) and produce biogas which can reduce the use of LPG? In starting, atleast, we should make it mandatory for the big hotels, restaurant, hostels and other similar institutions to use only Biogas for cooking purposes. I have full confidence that very large number of LPG cylinders and Govt. money will surely be saved.

We seriously need to resolve the issue of Subsidies . Subsidies should only be for BPL people now to ensure the same govt has to establish 1 to 1 connect with them to avoid forgery and black marketing .one gud initiative is bank accounts of the people by identifying to avoid middlemen and 2nd is the present scheme of surrendering subsidised cyl to IOC/Indane . especially commercial use of cyl by hoteliers and restaurant owners is the major chunk involved in promotion of black mktg to scanned

We can generate extra income from people wasting fuel unnecessarily.
If we execute a law in which every private or a tourist vehicle has to be occupied by at least 50% of its capacity while driving on any roads, so that people using 2-3 cars for a small family of 4 people, and wasting fuel by going for even a short distance of same family in different cars will be reduced, charge them for not using the full capacity of the vehicle on daily basis.

Why subsidized LPG should be given to those who can easily afford market price? Voluntary scheme of govt. to switch over to non-subsidized LPG has not really picked up. Govt. should give more publicity. All those who have a monthly income of Rs.50000 with small families can afford it. Like Swacch Bharat abhiyan this should be taken up by PM himself together with his Ministers. The benefit will be instant for the Govt. and thereby to the poor people of India.

$20bn subsidy on petro products is definitely inconvenient & difficult to manage. Reducing the subsidy beyond a point is only possible with changes elsewhere. One direct option may be to charge 10% premium for immediate delivery of the cylinder-since most value conscious plan well ahead, the negative impact may be limited. One indirect option may be to offer solar power kits for cooking in locations where there is 300+ day SUN light so gas cylinders becomes more of a backup than primary source

Government can send vouchers or can issue a electronic card on which poor people can get kerosene or LPG cylinder on nearest existing petrol pump. LPG cylinder should be made half their existing size because poor people can not afford and required such big cylinder.

Diversion of subsidized cylinder into Commercial is only in connivance with the Inspectors and Gas agencies. Its use even in open market places shows how protected and fearless they are. To punish others due to this culprit gang will be injustice to large number of innocent people.
Its control is neither difficult nor time taking if there is strong and honest will to do so. Some bold steps like (i) immediate suspension of concerned Inspector/ licence of supplier agency/ licence of commercial shop involved and (ii) thereafter holding enquiry against them . Govt rules clearly provide that suspension is not punishment. If prima facie case exists, we can suspend and then hold enquiry. The irony is that we first hold enquiry which allows the culprits to manipulate things in their own favour/ political pressure etc and no action is taken.(iii) People’s confidence towards ruling is shattered due to such manipulations as public knows the truth. (iv) Duty without power is meaningless. General Public should be given power to take pictures from mobile, which they can easily do and mail it direct to petroleum ministry as it is a Union subject. The complaint must be kept confidential.
Where there is a will, there is a way. Not taking bold steps, punishing innocent citizens for the crime of small section of people is NOT GOOD GOVERNANCE AND TARNISHES THE IMAGE OF CONCERNED GOVERNMENT. We are already facing similar problem in electricity where cost charged from us includes loss due to theft etc. - ISHWARI PRASAD
