A huge amount of Govt. money is spent on subsidy of petroleum products. The Govt. had to spend Rs. 1,39,869 crore on account of subsidy on petroleum products in the year 2013-14. ...
The figure you have given seems ridiculous or just boosted up.However do not try to drag in people from villages to use LPG. Every villager/farmer there, is having cattle and help the village in toto in setting up plant(s) to generate BIO-GAS. This is promoting alternate energy source, reducing import of petroleum and consequently avoid payment of subsidy. Another suggestion is to promote LPG/CNG fired cars/A/Rs if it gives cost-effective mileage and less pollution.
सर एक बहुत अच्छा आईडिया हैं गैस का सब्सिडी को बंद करने का उपाय हैं हरेक months 10 ₹ करके बढ़ा दीजिये लोगो के आँखों मैं भी नहीं लगेगा
#LPG# Sir, one idea for reducing LPG subsidy: Whenever anybody goes to buy a car/Truck, make him produce his LPG connection paper/Aadhar Card and remove his subsidy, because if he can afford a car he can very well afford without subsidy. This thing can be done in respect of the existing car users and can reduce the subsidy dramatically.
why not use technology to track/ control the same. each cylinder can be attached a small tracker that transmits the location of the cylinder. while giving the connection the distributor can tag the location of the household and the same can be matched/verified easily..

this article states correct assessment of current recession and also helps in input along with inputs of my earlier post in this discussion on why government has to give large subsidy as on one hand you create unemployment by misguided import policy on other hand you whine that you have huge subsidy bill. Its your creation you are paying subsidy as you wrecked businesses of people by listening to wrested interest
The LPG cylinder have a digital gadget as part of the cylinder which contains all info about its movement. The last receiver /possessor is the owner and Owner is responsible for its return.
Dear Sir,
Please provide the gadget to the LPG distributors for entering the serial number of cylinder which is going to be deliver to the consumer and at the time of next booking the serial number must be match from the record if the serial number differs then appropriate fine should be imposed.

Sachin Garg
There are poor housewifes who do not have LPG Gas connection because they have no capacity to pay security deposits etc of about Rs. 4500 – 5000 at a time. If Government can give LOAN under MUDRA , of Rs. 4000- 5000 payable directly to the LPG DEALER and loan will be repayable by LPG subsidy . Ye GARIB KE GHAR KA CHULLA JALANE ME MADAD Karegi.

There are lots of people giving up their LPG subsidy. But how the subsidy amount utilised ?
I think that amount should be utilised for improvement of the LPG service. The poor are still geting the LPG but with higher price. BIOGAS is a handsome alternative. It will not only be cheaper but also work as a suitable substitute of non-renewable LPG in the long run.
Renewable energy is the future and we should start utilising the same right now
