Water is a vital resource for life, and for the economy. Nowadays, one of the most serious challenges to solve and manage the water scarcity. With the depletion of water resources, the demand for quality water is increasing day by day. Water utilities are under pressure to provide good quality water, but are struggling with their outdated infrastructure at the same time. Furthermore, one of the major concerns of water utilities is the increasing wastage and pollution of water bodies caused due to metering errors, leaks, pipe bursts, and industrial waste. To manage all these issues, water utilities have to come up with smart water management solutions and techniques.

IoT may be used in potable water monitoring tools to monitor the quality of tap water in all government owned education institutes and public places. It should be applied in real-time detection of leakages and wastes of factories in rivers and other natural water bodies. It can also be used in monitoring of water level variations in rivers, dams and reservoirs, for proactive disaster management.

Smart water management is the combination of smart hardware, smart solutions, and smart services integrated together to minimize wastage and optimize the utilization. Intelligent use of information and analytics can be leveraged to deliver improved outcomes across the water management lifecycle.

With the help of this discussion platform we request you to share your valuable inputs on how IOT can be used in:

• Demand Forecasting and Allocation of water resources
• Water Quality Testing
• Infrastructure Management
• Improve Preparedness and Response to water management system

Your suggestions on the above topics will help us to make an integrated view and plan of action for Smart Water development by applying IoT and analytics.

Sir i think we should join all the lakes, canals and dams of this country , some times there is heavy rain in one state and drought in other states , we should link all and educate all villagers to make small pounds in every village where they can store the water like small pounds of water , even we can take water from other neighbouring countries like China or others where they have extra water due to heavy rain , which we can fix the bartar system like we can give good or other minerals we had

Industry can be stopped from using ground/ surface water, and asked to use zero discharge methods; to make up for shortfall, they may buy treated sewage, further treat and re-use. This will improve the water situation in the country dramatically. This could reduce the profitability of industry, which can be offset by many genuine 'ease of doing business' measures like compulsory arbitration, guaranteed speedy disposal of cases, adjustment of any Govt dues against any other dues from Govt, etc.

A strong law should be compulsory to protect the drinking water. it should be applied in mountainous parts not in only plains. It is more important in the mountains, because the water conservation initiatives have not been seriously there. the only reason of this easy availability of the drinking water.

We are continually forgetting our ancient civic methodology for preserving and protecting perennial sources of water. Rather we are over developing the cities at the cost of destroying them. Awareness among us should be there to know the fact that the potable water is very less on earth and we have to save and protect it. Burning example for scarcity of water at Latur and other affected areas of Maharashtra where people are literally fighting to get water even for drinking purpose.

For saving water, some awareness program should be there. In these program show videos and people who are worst sufferer in that area.In these program water conservation new techniques must be shown. These water conservation techniques must be started in each and every Govt.and private sectors. If people start seeing these things in surrounding they will start using these technique. The persons having more money use too much water. So these program must reach to these people to avoid wastage of water.
