LPG is one of the ‘clean’ cooking fuel with present consumer base of 17cr in the country and present coverage is 60% of the households. Government of India is committed to increase LPG coverage in the country to 75% of the household. Present, LPG distributor network has more than 17000 distributors spread having presence in both Rural and Urban areas of the Country. Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Government of India is of the view that there is a need to increase of LPG coverage in the rural areas considering the benefits of LPG in terms of health and environment. Ministry recognizes that availability, accessibility and affordability of LPG are the key factors to increase the LPG coverage in rural areas. This can be done with bringing in new distributorships aligning with challenges encountered with respect of making them available to the last mile.

Therefore, Ministry solicits suggestions/inputs from citizens on the new model of distributorship particularly for the areas such as Hilly/Desert/Densely forested/other difficult locations. Also, to suggest names of locations which require establishing new distributorship.

The extant Guidelines for Selection of Distributorship is available on www.petroleum.nic.in

Huge amount of money is being wasted on transportation of gas cylinders. This is a component in the pricing. Govt should encourage gas pipeline in major cities. Moreover there should set a delivery timeline for distributors. Many distributors collect delivery charges on top of the bill. There should be a complaint mechanism and rating for distributors. Erroring distributors should be punished by cancelling their license.

#LPG Services of our Defence personal can be utilized in distribution of LPG Cylinders in remote areas such as Hilly/Desert/Densely forested/other difficult locations. They can in turn train a group of local people in reaching out to the remotest corner from those areas who can then become regular distributor in the area. The army shall continue to liaison between the people and the distributors for any difficulties faced by them.

situation of MNAREGA is no different from LPG. it is abused in most perverted fashion by village chiefs across India. even direct benefit transfer is useless in MNAREGA as village chiefs abuse system in 2 ways.  in first way village chiefs give option to workers to work at lower wages then government scheme and pocket the difference or don't gibe workers work. in second way they force workers to remove money from ATMs so they can have their share.

there is no barcode end user tracking of cylinders so black marketing is rampant as commercial cylinders cost twice so distributor sells in black to industry and caterers for profit and people are left empty handed. LPG cylinder has very low profit margin so they do such activities.

LPG cylinder has basic fault in distribution system itself. Distributiors of public sector company have attitude of god given right to conduct business as they like. These distributors don't recognise online booking system and sell in black in open market simply because LPG is essential commodity and Company won't take action against them. if someone complains then they use muscle power.

Its really great, but people of remote hill areas like uttarakhand have been facing short, and untimely supply of LPG cylinders.establish a control room in every states with toll free numbers and email id etc monitoring by cenral control room at Delhi to listen the complaints of people. We must promote use of solar energy for remote areas which will be clean and cheap.we also must to think to supply PNG to poor people which is much cheaper than LPG which is presently supplying to rich people
