Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world railway systems generate 10% to 20% of their revenues from non-tariff sources.

IR typically has focused on increasing revenues through tariff hikes. It wants to change this and challenge the conventional thinking by exploiting new sources of revenue so that every asset, tangible or non-tangible, gets optimally monetized

We invite ideas from citizens on increasing non fare revenue for Indian Railways.

Railway office order No. 20 of 2016 on Non-Fare Revenue covers most of the ways to generate Non-Fare (Non-Tariff Revenues). Attachment gives suggestions on additional ways to generate Non-Tariff revenues for Indian Railways.

3d DISPLAY IN AIR WITHOUT SCREEN........
it is possible to display image in air without any screen. how easy it will become to make some one invisible. if we have a screen in front of us which shows exact picture that is behind us or some other picture at our position to other person it means with naked eye from far distance we are like invisible.

now if we have to display something in the air we can display that. simple method is like we are firing photons remaining in the image

The free pass system for railway employees need to be restricted and they be provided with LTCs as other central govt employees.This will save Indian Railways,thousands of crores.

Why go for 10 to 15%, go for 50% by giving station name for advertisement, train name, route name (instead of gandhi family name).
give space on rant to food chains,bank atm, cloth chains etc

ANYTHING WHICH GIVES RELIEF TO COMMON MAN SHOULD BE ADOPTED ALTHOUGH ITS VERY DIFFICULT -SCHEMES ARE ANNOUNCED BUT NEVER IMPLEMENTED. At Least Intentions are there after 65 years .

It is very important that railway should run timely.It is not impossible,we have seen during emergency period.Suvidha trains are not running full due to high fare.Fare should not be more than TATKAL.All possible measures should be taken to check corruption & travelling without ticket.Adjustments in other trains of wait listed passengers is good idea.Focus should be on these measures which will definitely increase revenue.

HUGE TRACKS OF LAND, OWNED BY RAILWAYS, has to be utilized for REVENUE GENERATION by Leasing-out and/or SALE certain pieces of lands. Yesterday, it is reported in Press, that Rlys. is going to invest in Projects of Nuclear Power Corporation. How is it possible.

If feasible, pl. make separate bogy only for courier service ->documents,items
for proper and timely delivery .
Only proper authorised person can be on that boggy for courier.

Railway service has improved ... But only at cities and prominent routes... Railway services at rural stations are pathetic... Somehow corruption is minimal in railway sector in passenger category... Applause for it ... Non tariff source income should be increased to atleast 25% of net income... But you need to build good infrastructure for that within specific time limits
