Increasing non-fare revenue for Indian Railways

Start Date :
Jun 14, 2016
Last Date :
Jan 01, 2017
00:00 AM IST (GMT +5.30 Hrs)
Although Indian Railways enjoy the highest captive eyeballs in a railway system internationally, it earns less than 5% of its revenues through non-tariff sources. Many of the world ...
1. Introduce premium catering by big hotel groups
2. Replace all fans and lights in each coach by brand names with their logo prominently displayed
3. Put up big traditional clocks at prominent points at each station and auction it for ad.
4. Identify sponsored meeting place outside entry gate
5. put up 3-4 TV in each platform at busy stations for entertainment and ad
6. create sponsored flower garden in each station
It would be interesting to provide infrastructure facilities for meetings to in Railways. Railway premises have continued supply of electricity, they are landmarks of a city or town and will have transport facilities. these should be the advantages for any academic institution, ngo, govt organization to book facilities.
In long distance trains out of four toilets at every coach couple point, one toilet can be replaced by paid bathroom on per 15 minute usage charges with fix use of water.
Providing small stall in each compartment only for biscuits and snacks with a condition to keep the particular compartment clean will help both for swatch bharath and providing employment for people who keep stall and generating small revenue to Government and good service to passengers. Only 5x5 space may me enough to keep this small stock. To provide this space, Railway department may have to bare loss for approx 8 passengers. (i.e., removal of seats)
1. Install bio metric machines on all the station entrance and link them with AADHAR, hence one has to give his thumb impression to get in to platform and no need to stand in long queue for platform tickets, the amount per person can further be adjusted from the bank account or other benefits linked with AADHAR card.
2. For Indian citizens entire ticketing to be linked with AADHAR number hence Railway can save money spent on paper & stationery & TT can check the passengers via machine.
Put a rail of 6 inch just tope of the doors of every boggy for advertisement generation. Both sides of the engines also to can be used with good premium as it will have better prominence. Ensure time schedule & no harassment by waitlist passengers to reserve passengers. Enough boggies to be made available to accommodate all waitlist passengers once the chart is prepared.
1. Get sponsors to put advertisements in the coaches.
2. Ticket less travellers, in local trains in W. Bengal, should be booked.
3. A competitive and fast courier service can be introduced. You may call it 'Indian Railway Speedster'.
4. Invite vendors to cater of meals/snacks on board. A licence issued by Indian Railways to them renewable every 6 months.
5. Set up small 3star hotels for foreign tourists so that they do not look for other hotels.
Sir trains me diveyaang Coach three hone chahiye kyuki ek aam log aage Piche jaldi does sakte hai kintu ek diveyaang jaldi chal nahi sakta or diveyaang Coach aage laga hoga ya Piche ye bhi maloom nahi hota, isliye Mera maannaa haiki trains me diveyaang Coach three lagne chahiye.ek aage,ek Bich me or ek last me.agar ye possible Na ho to diveyaang Coach ki position nischit Honi chahiye .Me kiraaye badane ke patch me Hoon.
Food is an important part of travel. Many enjoy buying different types of food preparations, fruits and related items available in a particular station. It would be beneficial for local entrepreneurs and the Railways make provisions that different food preparations--sweets, savouries, local produce--fruits, vegetables, items like mango jelly, gur, dals, pulses and such a made available. It will be beneficial to have counters set up by the growers/ SHGs or such entities.
Government policy
