For delivering various Citizen centric services and furthering the reach of Financial Services including Insurance, the Government of India has set up a Task Force to examine and recommend efficient utilisation and upgradation of the Post Office Network, enabled with Digital/Internet Connectivity to rural Offices and outpost areas enabling reach of different services in rural areas. This Network is also being viewed as a distribution channel to retail various schemes and services of Central Government, State Government and Private Sector Players.

Through this discussion the Department of Posts (Ministry of Communications & Information Technology) seeks suggestions on the following:

•    To provide efficient postal network and points of presence [particularly in rural areas and small towns] to Central Government Ministries / Departments, State Governments [including Local Self Government] and private sector players for delivering various citizen-centric services, scheme, products to the people.
•    To further the role of Post Offices in Financial inclusion, including Insurance products
•    The infrastructure requirements of the Post Offices and the Postal Network
•    To make the Post Offices financially viable

Last date for sending your suggestions is 30th November, 2014.

Recurring deposit duration is 5 years; This is too long for this speedy world. If Recurring deposits for one year, two years, three years, four years and five years are started more and more citizen will join in the schemes. Getting duplicate pass book is a difficult task. If the system is simplifed, it will be good. Duplicate pass book should be given immediately without make us waiting.

Minimum commission on deliveries and financial instrument should make it viable, online service for everything even bar code printing of stamp, online telegram, online pickup of parcel letters and speedpost

Grocery delivery, multi information kiosk, seed delivery . it should just have a slogan any information anywhere delivery anything to deliver fast and honestly and dependable

Workers at postal service have to be at par with private logistics companies so hire and fire police have to be implemented. Online shopping portals parcel delivery like private companies, it can deliver in remote location, it should start packers and movers business. Drone delivery of fast food can be a new avenue. Medicine delivery, cold storage chain for vaccine delivery, mobile recharge electrcity billing school fees internet service provider, multi banking facility provider,

To make post offices more financially viable add other value added services like - recharge of mobiles phones, rail/bus ticket bookings etc. Post offices have terrific presence in interiors of the country and these services will be much appreciated there. Besides people will trust online more when they transact with post office vs. other middle men who can cheat them or charge more.

With what I suggested,the financial inclusion will be the easiest thing to do for a Post office under its command area which is Banker's daily work. With viability thought in mind,the quality of service will improve as it added insurance to deposit long before Banks started. sad to see a Speed Post reaching destnation within 72 hours and not within 24 hours given by Couriers. Time for Money order gone. With Software,they can do instantly. Modernization investment be made. let go shabby look

If the Posmaster and the indian Postal service Officials start feeling working in a Public Sector where every year they have to make good profit ,and they are directly answerable to people first then their change in outlook will change every thing. Same with BSNL

Please recall 1969,the position of Indian banking and compare it with the position now.Indian Postal System have the highest amount of Savings Deposits even now.Needed is slight autonomy and a competitive spirit.The promotion be linked to performance and its should be clear. They have to act in a way more prolific and service oriented than State Bank and their strength be just not tagged to Governmental limitations. The IPS should function as a CEO of Post Offices in his command responsible for
