For delivering various Citizen centric services and furthering the reach of Financial Services including Insurance, the Government of India has set up a Task Force to examine and recommend efficient utilisation and upgradation of the Post Office Network, enabled with Digital/Internet Connectivity to rural Offices and outpost areas enabling reach of different services in rural areas. This Network is also being viewed as a distribution channel to retail various schemes and services of Central Government, State Government and Private Sector Players.

Through this discussion the Department of Posts (Ministry of Communications & Information Technology) seeks suggestions on the following:

•    To provide efficient postal network and points of presence [particularly in rural areas and small towns] to Central Government Ministries / Departments, State Governments [including Local Self Government] and private sector players for delivering various citizen-centric services, scheme, products to the people.
•    To further the role of Post Offices in Financial inclusion, including Insurance products
•    The infrastructure requirements of the Post Offices and the Postal Network
•    To make the Post Offices financially viable

Last date for sending your suggestions is 30th November, 2014.

Hello Friends, I'm residing in Germany since past 4 years. I would like to share a profitable use of the post office reach. Here in Germany it is a law for private companies dealing with money to ensure that its clients are identified in person. For example a credit card company (American express), or a foreign exchange services company (ICIC money2india) etc. So these company make use of the POST-IDENT servies from the Deutsche post. https://www.deutschepost.de/de/p/postident/vergleich_postide

1.] Please take work with Post Office from 09:00 a.m. to till 6:00 P.M. at every day for each and every work. 2.] Require facility for Online Payment for all transaction. 3.] Require Transparency in each work as Private Courier Company. 4.] Require Day to Day work Updating by POST. 5.] Like SBI Bank, we can see our all transaction like as Loan, Post through our any Post Account. 6.] Like Bank: Common Account Number for all transaction like as Loan, Post/Courier through same Post Account.

Our post office network has reach upto most hinterland villages where private courier services shy away to provide their services for commercial reasons. The task force should focus on garnering revenue from these untapped avenues with the established old network. Yes, quality of service must be maintained for success. Our speed post service is presently a second choice because of its inefficiency.

Branch offices should be upgraded. If possible the private companies should also have a permission to start the post offices.

In India, post should start around 7am.the local youth should work on part time basis till 10am.the regular staff will start. After 5 pm again third shift for the post office till 10 night. This way The rural areas youth will get an opportunity instead of sit idle at home.

Basically to introduce the modern equipement ,barcode system, instead of ticket use barcode only.since small rural areas the postoffices should give an opportunity to the locals id they would like to work particularly retired people on contract basis. This way work load will be lesser and effectively.

every letter (including General post) should be Bar Coded which can be tracked. Tracking Message should be sent to both Recipient and sender's mobile number. this can be achieved by involving telecome companies. Post office delivery time should be increased by 1-2 hours more. after1:00 PM item can not be booked by Speed post/registered post except head post offices so this time should be increased by few hours. 24 hours working post offices (in numbers) should be increased.

today 29-9-14 i went to post office for collecting Employment Newspaper; which is subscribed by me. so there I saw that lots of post/envelopes are dumping by the post mens by marking Invalid Address while those letters came from some companies/banks etc. those letter may have much more importance for the recipient but not delivering by the post mens. so every letter (including General Post )should be BAR CODED so that it can be tracked & messages should be sent at mobile of recipient & sender's.
