Here are some sample comments and suggestions you can submit regarding the Draft Accessibility Standards for the ICT Sector: 1. Clarity and Simplicity Comment: Some technical terms and references to international standards (e.g., WCAG, EN 301 549) may not be easily understood by non-specialists. Suggestion: Include plain-language summaries or toolkits for small businesses and non-technical users. 2. Inclusive Design Practices Comment:The current draft focuses heavily on digital accessibility but could better emphasize inclusive design from the planning stage. Suggestion:Add a guideline requiring ICT products to integrate accessibility considerations during initial development, not just as retrofits. 3. Testing with People with Disabilities Comment:While automated testing tools are helpful, real-world testing by persons with disabilities is essential. Suggestion:Mandate user testing that includes individuals with diverse disabilities to validate accessibility compliance. 4. Traini

Draft Accessibility Standards for the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Sector A crucial and much-needed step in the ICT sector, this initiative is rooted in globally recognized best practices such as the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), EN 301 549, and the U.S. Rehabilitation Act. In today’s rapidly evolving digital world, this is a powerful way to connect everyone and ensure inclusive progress. The web world is the new reality, and these standards are helping bridge the digital divide by providing equal opportunities to all — including individuals with disabilities. Through these accessibility standards, disability is no longer seen as a limitation but rather as a unique aspect that technology can accommodate and empower. The purpose and guidelines of these standards make them not just beneficial but essential. Factors that are acting as boon for the audiences 1. Screen recorder compatibility 2. Grievance redressal mechanism 3. Accessible hardware.
