I am truly pleased to share my thoughts on this important and forward-looking initiative. Given India's expanding digital and structural economy, updating our National Accounts methodology is essential.
Production and income remain the backbone of economic measurement, requiring strong, transparent, and updated methods. Methodological improvements are crucial as they enhance data quality, leading to better decision-making, sharper policies, and a more realistic reflection of our economy.
This exercise will strengthen transparency and help India align with global statistical standards. Proud to support this vision.

The paper introduces valuable improvements through enhanced administrative data use, annual ASUSE–PLFS integration, and updated agriculture/fisheries ratios. Greater clarity on multiplier assumptions, pension adjustments, and construction-sector input ratios would improve transparency. Overall, the proposed changes strengthen the robustness of the new national accounts series.
