India is accelerating towards an increasingly digitised and data-driven economy. With increasing digitization and engagement, the volume of data is also increasing exponentially, providing opportunities for better governance, service delivery and innovation in sectors critical for societal transformation.

Against this backdrop, the National Data Governance Framework Policy aims to enhance access, quality, and use of data, in line with the current and emerging technology needs of the decade.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology invites all Indian citizens to bring their best ideas, inputs and suggestions to the table as we move ahead to become the hub for Data-driven innovation and decision making.

. A few common areas needs to be covered by data governance policies are:

Data quality – ensuring data is correct, consistent and free of “noise” that might impeded usage and analysis.

Data availability – ensuring that data is available and easy to consume by the business functions that require it.

Data usability – ensuring data is clearly structured, documented and labeled, enables easy search and retrieval, and is compatible with tools used by business users.

Data integrity – ensuring data retains its essential qualities even as it is stored, converted, transferred and viewed across different platforms.

Data security – ensuring data is classified according to its sensitivity, and defining processes for safeguarding information and preventing data loss and leakage.

Nowadays everything is digitalized and the entire world is facing Data stealing. Particularly Today's innovation in technology will become tomorrow's fish for hackers.Hacking is very much influencing and many big data companies are facing this problem.Hence we need to think of security at different levels. Particularly Banking& financial institutions and transactions must be safeguarded from cyber thefts and hacking. Many fraudsters and hackers are stealing data and there was much loss and we cannot stop those. It is everyday's challenge. Hence we need to think of our security in using technology. When we believe something new, that must be tested, verified, and finally approved in terms of strict security by testing that technology in all aspects. We shouldn't believe on foreign technology particularly like china etc. Because we may be cheated and in future in defence and other security point of view we may be caught hold.So too much of dependency on foreign technology will harm to us.

What is the India Data Accessibility and Use Policy?
The old draft — ‘India Data Accessibility and Use Policy’ had proposed that data collected by the Centre that has “undergone value addition” can be sold in the open market for an “appropriate price”.
It faced widespread criticism with questions being raised about the government collecting data to monetise it in the absence of a data protection law in India.
