The Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued draft rules to ensure ease of using drones in India on the basis of trust, self-certification, and non-intrusive monitoring. The Drone Rules, 2021, once notified, will supersede the UAS Rules, 2021, which came into force on March 12 this year.

The Rules aim to make the process of owning, possessing, exporting, importing, manufacturing, trading, leasing, operating, transferring, or maintaining a drone in India, simpler and hassle-free. For that, the draft rules seek to abolish the requirement of various approvals, ranging from certificate of conformance, certificate of maintenance, import clearance, to student remote pilot licences.

Besides, it proposes the development of drone corridors for cargo deliveries and a drone promotion council to be set up to facilitate a drone-friendly regulatory regime in the country.

-Drone specially with camera and High end categories must register with AADHAR or biometric. like Arms regulations it should be registered. - Should be prohibited only near high security zones and sensitive areas. - Along with making rules public awareness needs to be there, can start with schools, colleges, public sectors. - All high end drones with camera should registered with GPS and mobile number of registered person. - Drones is a part of technology and we must include it public safety

Drone activity should strictly restict near High security areas like Space, Navy,Defence areas, Shipyards and Airports. Shot down any drones visible in these areas and the culpits should be dealt with nonbailable offence category. But drones can also be used effectively in natural calamities like flood( to arrange food for needy in isolated place), fisherman missing in sea, also useful in delivery of commodities and some documents at home in this era. Draft can be sold and puchased only by approved Central Govt Institue that too only by Hospital and Defence organisation only.

These rules are amazing. As they allow individuals, hobbyists, researchers, tinkerers, teachers and trainers to have hands on and experiment with the UAVs. Thus I am happy and really thankful for the team that had worked really hard to design these rules. Congratulations to the government. Thanks a lot!!

1. How to prevent forging of unregistered drones as registered drones. This can occur if the UINs are public. Before booting, the firmware must verify the drone and vice-versa. 2. Publishing airspace zones in Digital Sky Platform could compromise our classified locations like nuclear fuel plants, ordinance factories. Instead, the drone software should include handshake feature for detecting friendly and enemy drone. 3. Why should user know the UIN, can't we issue a pseudo number.
