Simplest solution: enforce rain water harvesting with usage of steel rain gutters(beginning with capitals and gradual inclusion of other cities)
1. Increases steel demand greatly
2. Improves ground water table level allowing better access to drinking water, gradually improves the tube and bore well drawing capacity for farming
3. Allows the water to enter soil and sub soil level without clogging the sewage system and the streets
4. Reduces expense for government and water consumers equally

Today when we go the market, there are so many steel items where only chinese goods are available. One may visit ten shops but product made in India is not available. Let us generate a list of such items and if incentive is given to young entrepreneurs, they will produce these steel items in India. Let us generate a list of such items by writing here and may be some officials can aggregate the list of such items and then float this list to young entrepreneurs.

R& D center on steel products in combination with other etc should be started by involving all the stake holders.
• A global product catalogue and future development like folding Bridge which can be assembled or building on steel frame with glasses etc should be made and put for public- order with list of manufactures who can produce the required product - like e market.
• Students of metallurgy should be asked to give one suggestion on environmental replacement product

Meeting our Nation's vision of 300 mt in 2025 will increase steel production as follows:
India is currently producing 90 mt per annum. One 4000 m3 furnace produces approx 3 mt per annum crude steel ( one plant commissioning takes 4.5 years), so there will be 70 new blast furnace to come in next 9 years and hence 35 new furnace project shall start today to meet the vision. one such steel plant requires 0.3 mt steel so the next 9 years steel consumption 21 mt can be increased.

my few suggestions.apart from increased investment in infra structural activities make compulsory all loads being carried at railway stations by steel wheel barrows instead of carrying on head .by this china had increased steel consumption by almost ten millions.besides this agricultural equipments to be produced in large quantity .

Though India’s steel production cost is about $320-$340 per tonne compared to $400 in China and the global average of $390, it is uncompetitive in global markets due to freight costs, higher credit costs, industrial power tariffs, high iron ore royalties, import duties and cess on coking coal.
