Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance or UMANG developed by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology was inspired from the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister, who said “e-Governance, let us think about ‘mobile first’ and thus give importance to m-Governance”.

On November 23, 2017, the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi dedicated the UMANG Mobile app to the Nation with 163 services. UMANG is an initiative to build a common, unified platform, aggregating major government services of Center, States, local bodies, including important utility services, to facilitate a single point access through mobile app, anytime, anywhere. Citizens need to download just one mobile application and can access multiple services.

UMANG was envisaged to have a transformative and historic impact on the lives of citizens by allowing them to avail digital services on 24*7, without any intermediary. Connected government, effective & economic governance, citizen centricity, inclusiveness, universal access and citizen participation in governance are some of the key benefits of UMANG for citizens as well as the Government.

Within a short period of its successful running, the mobile app bagged the ‘Best m-Government Service’ award at the 6th World Government Summit held at Dubai, UAE, in February 2018. UMANG also won at the IDC Digital Transformation Awards 2018 in August, under the category Omni-experience Innovator, which recognized it as a pioneering initiative.

The ‘Digital India Jury choice award 2018-19’ and DARPG Gold award 2018-19 for ‘Excellence in providing Citizen Centric Delivery’ respectively, were also bestowed upon UMANG. Information dissemination and delivery of government services, for assisting citizens on various aspects of life & livelihood, is being taken to another level through the consolidation of many important and widely used government services onto a single unified mobile app i.e. UMANG

UMANG Team now invites your suggestions for which 3 new services to on-board from State/Central Government departments on to the UMANG Platform.

Please submit your suggestions (comments) latest by 18th January, 2022.

Comments may also be sent by email at: umang.gov@gmail.com

Respected Sir/Mam I would like to share my view regarding UMANG. In the present times, the need of electronic devices are prominent but there is quite unneeded usage of these devices by all age groups. Mainly, citizen living ideally or most of the teenagers are using these devices unnecessarily due to which severe health problems are also caused, as a solution it would be helpful if an app is made that controls and restricts the usage of electronic gadgets according to age and screen time. The major role of the app is to track the websites or apps the citizen is using, is it safe or not as there is a huge rate of cyber crimes in recent, it can also contain significance of minimal usage of devices and making the citizen who is addicted to mobiles realize how their time would be useful if they pay attention on their careers or goals/aims. I hope this idea is usable and helpful Kindly do not mind the lapses Thank You Manaswini (Class 9) DPS Nadergul

Government of India can Develop Diaster Managment Assistance Adroid Applicatuon which must be linked to all Disaster managment Team for example if there is any Earthquake, Flood, Sunami, Cyclone, Railway Accidents, Bridge Colapsed, Aircrash or any Natural disaster in this case citizen can use This application from UMANG application which can send distress code to All Government Departments like Fire Brigade, Hospital, Local Police, Indian Army, NDRF team, NGO, Airport Authority of India, Indian Railway, Ministry of Roadways, Indian Marine Department using Live video streaming of Situation. It will send GPS location to Government Department of accident site or disaster site and Details of Eyewitness. Same can be used for future investigation by Government. if Government develop this Android application then it make a huge difference for citizens and Government. Please think of it and try to implement it.

Government of India on note of Digital India Movement if Government can create an Mobile Andorid Application for Traffic Police Department which can check the speed of vehicle using their Mobile it will save lot of time and money of Government. It will be easy to check speed of vehicles at any place. This app will record the speed and will save that video file on Government Traffic Website as proof. There is no need to buy costly speed Guns and Scanners for Traffic Department. Government of India can save Cores of Money. Thus once Speed Monitor Android Apppicatiin is developed then any one can access it from UMANG application and can record speed for Traffic Department. The Andorid Application name must be IndiMoto Speed Android Application. please think of it and if possible. This andorid application can be developed by IIT Enginners. Try to implement.ent this in UMANG app.
