The National Commission for Women, a Statutory Body set up in January 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990 has the mandate to safeguard the constitutional and statutory rights of women. The Commission initiates program which aids empowerment and holistic development of women so that they are capable to gain access to opportunities and make their own decisions.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was launched in 2000 by the U.N General Assembly. It is observed annually on November 25th. International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women seeks to raise awareness about violence against women. This day aims to eliminate violence by removing stigma and encouraging women to speak out against abusers. This day defines violence against women as any act of gender-based violence that results in or is likely to result in, physical, sexual, or psychological harm to women. The goal of this day is to achieve equality, development, and peace. It aims toward the fulfillment of women's and girls’ human rights.

In pursuance of its mandate and in order to achieve the goal of ‘Elimination of Violence against Women', the Commission invites inputs, suggestions, and feedback from all stakeholders through MyGov Portal, with a focus on Breaking the Silence against Gender Violence. The aim of the programme is to promote equality, development, and peace among the masses.

The last date to receive suggestions/input is 24th December 2021.

We must unite. Violence against women cannot be tolerated, in any form, in any context, in any circumstance, by any political leader or by any government. - Ban Ki Moon (UN secretary general 2007-16)

Respected Sir/Madam, As a citizen, I cannot overlook the crime incidents against women happening all over the country. I alone do not have the power to do something about it, so I am asking for your help to look into what I have to suggest and please take appropriate measures as soon as possible. "Establishing a special force department for women safety (like CBI)" PLEASE take this into concern and execute it effectively asap. I have attached a file that gives a detailed description of the idea.

India needs to address the issue by changing the mindset.Generations must be taught to see each other at equal. Without a society admitting its mistakes in portraying woman as just a property owned by Men or her family rather than an individual just as human as man eliminating crimes against women would never happen.Even home isn’t safe for girls as majority of violence woman suffers is domestic violence. Home also tops in the list in child sexual abuses.

Stop shaming the victim for no fault of theirs. Exposing ones cleavage or legs isn't permission to harass someone in any manner and the victim needs your support and strength, not your judgement. Imbibe it right in your head and heart. If you can't be of help during a testing phase atleast avoid being a pain in their butt. Treat them with respect and dignity.
Stop treating harassment as the end of the world.

For elimination of violence against women a gadget to be developed which will alert concerned parties like family members, police, volunteers etc. immediately if an attack is happened. This gadget should be like a necklace, wrist watch, shirt button or the like in which a simple press on it should alert the concerned parties. There will be international market in case anyone develop such a gadget.

There are two main preventive measures required to avoid violence against women - 1. Safety measures: which can be improved by using technology like; GPS systems in all public transport, emergency alarm, self defence system etc. for women. 2. Imparting ethical and attitudinal training in education system specifically for men. Apart from these preventive measures, we need a strong & fast track judicial system and police force.
