The National Commission for Women, a Statutory Body set up in January 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990 has the mandate to safeguard the constitutional and statutory rights of women. The Commission initiates program which aids empowerment and holistic development of women so that they are capable to gain access to opportunities and make their own decisions.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was launched in 2000 by the U.N General Assembly. It is observed annually on November 25th. International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women seeks to raise awareness about violence against women. This day aims to eliminate violence by removing stigma and encouraging women to speak out against abusers. This day defines violence against women as any act of gender-based violence that results in or is likely to result in, physical, sexual, or psychological harm to women. The goal of this day is to achieve equality, development, and peace. It aims toward the fulfillment of women's and girls’ human rights.

In pursuance of its mandate and in order to achieve the goal of ‘Elimination of Violence against Women', the Commission invites inputs, suggestions, and feedback from all stakeholders through MyGov Portal, with a focus on Breaking the Silence against Gender Violence. The aim of the programme is to promote equality, development, and peace among the masses.

The last date to receive suggestions/input is 24th December 2021.

The goal of ‘Elimination of Violence against Women'-Seems good to hear!! Better said than done.. The Government can take many steps to empower women, but, it is the people who have to change their quiet, because they know that even if she tells out she is going to face more harm than good- the fear of the family being defamed and letting go her future dreams. The law needs to be more strict, because even a rapist nowadays gets bailed easily.. If things happen in her own house hold, she is forced to keep quiet.. What we need is to make women and girls strong- mentally and physically mindset against women that they are weak and can me harmed. but this is not done easily too... The men who torture women in any ways should have the fear before they take any step against her- The need is to bring fear in the mind of wrong doers..this can only be brought by law..without any bias..without any influence of any kind..

Women should do everything themselves. Why do they take the credit for everything after men do everything to help them? If women think they are better than anything else then why not let women defend themselves. Why don't women think and everything themselves if they think are better? All these laws and facilities for women have only made things worse in society and it has all gone to their heads. Women are misusing these laws and facilities to their advantage. Women have become parasites only.

To stop violence against women, we will have to break the customs that are only made for womens, for eg. husband and wife both have job but responsibility of household chores are given to wife only. There are many stereotype thinking are there that are putting women downward as compared to men. If we start from breaking this kind of things then might be people will start respecting women in a true manner, and if when women will be respected then definitely violence against women will stop.

They are regular in going to parlours etc. They should be regularly given coaching as how to protect themselves for self defence. This coaching should start for all girls starting from Kg or 1st standard untill graduation. This training will prepare strong women. Thank you Pushpak Agarwal 9899593104
