Kalyan-Dombivli has been short-listed as one of the 100 cities in India to be developed as a SMART City under the SMART Cities Mission. Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) is in the process of preparing a Smart City Proposal to compete in the nation-wide Smart City Challenge. Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation seeks the valuable inputs of the citizens to assist in the preparation of smart city vision. We request you to share your thoughts and aspirations on this discussion forum. The needs, aspirations and dreams of the citizens are to be articulated through the SMART CITY vision. KDMC is looking for active participation of the citizens to understand their likes and dislikes about the city, the city features to leverage for smart city development, and thoughts for optimum utilization of the city resources. The suggestions are welcomed on various smart solutions for urban services like water supply, sewerage, solid waste management; aesthetics, transport, health, e-governance and IT interventions.

The last date to submit your comments is 4th December, 2015.

Thanks for giving me opportunity for giving suggestion in making the smart Kalyan City. #I think if KDMC & Traffic Authority work jointly & remove unauthorized Auto Rikshas from the City.# Remove or transfer the Hawkers who are sitting on road side & on Skywalk. # Start the signal system in City & mandate everybody to follow the signals.# Install CCTV in city to control the law & order.# Remove the political influence in day to day operation of KDMC.# Mandate the waste removal from each word

Warm regards of the day! Discussion on kalyan railway station. It seems that history of kalyan station is better than its present. Pre independence it was treated as major station. But the present is like "CHALTA HAI"... Can it will be upgraded and can this station will again gain it's fame as during British era.

The followings may be few suggestive measures for a smart and clean city: 1. Street washing before sweeping; 2. Use Bio-disposers to dispose kitchen / bio-degradable waste directly to sewer network. 3. Areas without sewer network may be provided with Bio-digesters for tackling bio-degradable waste. 4. Manage all type of Solid Waste separately without co-mingling for efficient reuse / recycling. & 5. Prefer to provide decentralised sanitation facilities, community managed & self sustainable.

I am happy to hear that Kalyan will be a Smart City. In the meantime, KDMC have to give preference to provide the amenities for the taxes collecting from the general public

What i feel is if you are looking to create any smart city following things must be included in to the master plan 1- Health and Education ( creating good Health & education facilities) 2- Transport facilities ( Developing good public and Road systems with world class traffic control system) 3- Energy & water supplies ( water harvesting and renewable energy sources) 4- Creating Re-creation centers like Park, sports club,Jogging tracks and other public usable facilities)

Traffic and Parking issues - I feel atleast 50% problem will be solved if govt. looks into future. Like, promoting use of single wheel electric bike and 2 wheeler car electric. . . 1) Health issues need to take priority with state of Art Hospital and Emergency Care with feasible transportation to hospitals. 2) Education System with sports encouragement and facility for great sports activities . 3) Cleans Cities and local awareness (I have seen gov official asking bribe to take daily garbage from socities of KDMC ) . 4) Parks and Greenzone for environment consideration . 5)Digitalization and e-Parks where WiFi books and Library should be made. 6) E-governance.. & Many more
