Before we speak of livelihood opportunities of the tribal people, it is necessary to understand each tribal ecosystem, in terms of environment and way of life. These will give us the strengths of each ecosystem and opportunities arising from them.
It is also an opportunity for a different education system, which will study and for creation of long term experts and guides, both for ecosystem and locals.
We see lots of Aadiwasis in towns and in cities selling oils, jungle roots, honey ,eggs, etc. to eat. selling medicines from the villages so on and so forth. These things should be branded with improved quality so that the tribals would earn more .
Livelihood opportunities for tribal people making the state do its job of enhancing capabilities is essential. There is an immediate sense in which pragmatic considerations (e.g. making tribal people realise that it is their right to have a doctor at primary health centres) play a useful and important role in mobilising tribal people. This may contribute to strengthening the organised articulation of the fundamental livelihood struggles of tribal people.
If coping behavior is constantly necessary, then the livelihood strategy becomes a survival strategy, leading to erosion of assets. Poor households in risky environments adopt coping strategies to protect their livelihoods. These strategies include, intensification of existing income activities, diversification into new activities, migration, drawing upon social relationships and informalcredit networks, drawing upon assets and adjusting consumption patterns etc.

A drip irrigation facilities prototype developed in entire india is providing small and marginal farmers with sustainable income and livelihoods, like pisciculture, horticulture, mango, cashew production. There is very big market for handicraft in out country . people staying in hilly and forest are should be imparted training in making wooden articles using bamboo/ normal wood, roots etc. A society should be formed by government initiative to sell the article to tourist places where these goods can be sold. Antique items are likely to fetch good amount to provide good returns to tribal people.
The art and skills of Tribal India is not been marketed well. GOI should take inspiration from something like FAB India to market and commercialize the art of Tribes in India. This will give them a great opportunity to generate money for their livelihood. This should be managed through the Entrepreneur initiative taken by GOI. Through this both will be benefited the tribes as well as the entrepreneurs.
Satya Sai Baba has told to students in June 1976 summercamp (source: Radiosai.org) clean your places and prevent diseases and eleminate doctors medicine. It is very similar to the PM Modi sirji initiative Swatch Bharath program. Every Indian has to work towards goal of our PM swatch Bharath and save our people from unwanted diseases. So that we can save money and health of many Indians.
Tribal people have great potential in their traditional skill set. With proper research their skill can be exploited for big mutual benefits. Wrong skill for wrong group will be a disaster.
