Greater Mumbai, the city of dreams, is also part of the Smart City Challenge, commissioned by the Ministry of Urban Development. The focus on making any city smart is to provide ...
Firstly a smart city should have a lean and efficient administration. Unless MCGM is drastically revamped ( which seems unlikely) change is not possible. Regularization of slums should stop, and no illegal house should be provided with water & power. Visa system should be implemented for entry in the city. mass public housing is very much possible if the sale rate is capped on the basis of construction costs and not land cost.
Mumbai needs everything then the people of mumbai why not working for it only claiming their right on other's success or work.
Daily I am traveling from ulhasnagar to mumbai central because mumbai needs my work and brain then why my place come under smart city...
Mithi riverfront can be developed on lines of Sabarmati riverfront.Road & highways to be free of potholes, drains cleared regularly.Parking of vehicles inside CHS should be made mandatory for new buildings.Frequency of local trains should be increased on central & harbour lines and dilapidated condition of rail network on these 2 lines should be revamped.one person one flat scheme should be im plemented to provide housing for all and to stop black money circulation.
To make a smart city we also need to get rid of unlicenced roadside sellers/hawkers, they give substandard items in selling as they are not licenced. There are controllers but its insufficient. With the use of technology the roadside hawkers should be removed permanently checks should be kept at each trafficking destination as in most of cased its due to hawkers the small lanes traffic happens.
A smart city should have smart traffic management. We are amongst the largest importers of crude oil in the world and most of this crude is consumed in automobiles that travel at no more than 20-30km/hr in our cities. If we can manage our traffic well not only would our cities be more liveable but it would also have a huge impact on our current account deficit when oil prices return to their previous highs. Vigorous campaign is reqd to 2 stop littering in public. Our media's doing an ignoble job of taking the camera & mic to show dirt.It wud serve better if it actually cleans the place instead. Media shd capture the ppl dirtying the public places rather than focussing on lack of proper cleaning by authorities. It's the ppl who litter who shd be made more responsible for cleaning rather than the Gov. Every where around the dustbin in Mumbai there is more dirt than in the dustbin.
NON STOP MOVEMENT OF TRAFFIC. THERE SHOULD BE NO SIGNALS WHEN MAKE BRIDGE. THIS U TURN FLYOVER CAN BE MADE IN 4 JUNCTION ROAD, NEAR PUBLIC UTILITY BUILDINGS LIKE MALL ETC. NO NEED OF LAND ACQUIRING. YOU CAN CREATE ABOVE THE BRIDGE BUSTOPS.
Separation of concerns. There are many places in Mumbai and India in general where the same street severs as bus stop, rickshaw stand, vegetable market, clothes and garment sellers, etc. I think some of these challenges can be addressed without hampering the means of earning for local vendors. A street nearby Rickshaw stand is ideal for vegetable seller to get more foot traffic. However, this street needs to be a one-way street and not the same on as the bus route street.
Rickshaws in #Mumbai are a source of convenience and chaos. Take railway stations for example. There is no need for rickshaws to go right up to the entrance of the station. There needs to be a dedicated rickshaw (and taxi) stand outside every station and they should not be allowed to come further. I truly believe this will help reducing the confusion outside stations are reduce noise levels as well.
