With the GST coming into effect from 1st July, 2017, the biggest indirect tax reform of independent India, is going to transform the way indirect tax is administered in this country, impacting not just businesses but also the common man. GST is a tax on consumption of goods and services, which is levied at all stages right from manufacturing up to final consumption, with credit of taxes paid at previous stages available as setoff. It is going to remove the tax-on-tax effect through separate Central and State tax laws. In a nutshell, under GST, only value addition will be taxed , hence, reducing the burden of tax to be borne by the final consumer.

The most fundamental change in GST besides the consolidation of multiple taxes, is the use of a robust shared IT infrastructure in its operations. All the forms related to registrations, filing returns and other related activities can now be done through the GSTN Portal.

GST will help build an economically stronger India, with 'One Nation, One Tax, One Market.'

I m trading for virgin coconut oil and soon going to launch my private label where the raw material is going to be supplied by manufacturer and packaging done by another on our behalf. What would be rate implication for my product as it is a multipurpose oil and can be directly used as edible, baby oil, hair oil and massage oil. The inherent character of virgin oil is such that it doesn't need additional processing

Reduce Tax & provide Exemptions for the Electric vehicles so that people can choose it as their option in the mean while raise so much tax on New Petrol/Diesel Upcoming vehicles along with that keep on increasing the price of Petrol/Diesel considerably even though the value of it reduces in Global Market --- otherwise people will not feel the heat of Global Warming ----- They keep on buying things which are easy going & cheap with no thoughts 4 future Generation.

Modi Ji your slogan 1 Nation 1 Tax is not fruitful unless until mandi tax is in existence today. Why mandi tax is not merged into GST. With existence of mandi, the products will be costlier in compare to other states. For exp: in U.P. ghee has 2% mandi extra other than GST. Now how this product will compete.

Concept is to root out corruption and stop the "cascade of taxes". But complications are that India is not fully developed to adopt such system ,since the GDP is yet to reach 3 trillion. By doing this common people cannot afford luxury.Only rates will float like anything.......good concept but timing is not right

If raw material costs are increased then production cost"will be" increased according to the companies profit margin which will have more impact on the common people especially on middle class and lower class people.suppose there is an electronic device which was being sold for 10,000 rupees the manufacturer will increase it's rate to say 13,000 and after GST it's 18% so that'll be 2,340 rupees as tax to govt. Still the company will retain its original profit margin by charging us 3000 extra.
