A multi-lingual society recognises the importance of education in languages. While there are some interventions for appointment of language teachers and promotion of classical languages, there is no comprehensive scheme or language policy and we need to have inputs on this dimension.

Two language only. Mother tongue and English. In the future, there will a one language, global village, English. The real truth is even dressing, use of technology, food habits and cultures are merging. Let not put the students burden of learning many language. Let them learn if they wish, provide all the facilities.

Therefore I feel a child shouldn't be taught more than a couple of languages of current relevance and leave it to the student to decide after high school whether he or she wishes to learn a language in depth. For this, efficient teaching resources are necessary which unfortunately our nation is lacking in. This is the reason why the nation has more standard students knowing English and speaking English but only a handful of authors who are yet to receive global acclamation.

Language is a subject of diverse scope and forms the very basis of education. However it is also difficult to learn a language in the true sense of it. We Indians are apparently enthusiastic to spell a sentence in more than just one language! That's a fact! We have also given English, a global language, its unique Indian accent which makes its essence less pretty and more ubiquitous. This is faulty learning. One must learn and appreciate its indigeneity before one embarks to modify it.

Make everything optional.. And introduce all the languages.. Let the students themselves decide whatever they want to choose..

We should take steps to develop rural students communication skills in languages other than their mother tounge. The students would learn other languages easily if suitable environment is provided for them to communicate in different language.Devoloping a students communication skill in english will be a great breakthrough in his future. An Environment where communication between all students and teachers is in english should be created.students should be encouraged even if there are mistakes

I feel - 3 languages should be Taught in schools till 8th class - English, hindi and one regional langauge! Experts can best suggest - which years are fertile for students to grasp langauge and accordingly few years can be devoted for learning regional langauge as well. Knowing langauge always helps!

From my experience let me say that, language-LEARNING happens if there is urgent necessity/or, circumstances."Bookish knowledge will not help here". When promotion of languages is aimed, all political, regional considerations must be erased. With a mental-block, how can one learn anything at all? Right at start, people comment, 'this is not needed';Refuse to learn, admire, gather info. about another place, culture, people etc. 'HAVE FREE-EAGER- MIND to CONVERSE IN NEW LANGUAGE LIKE LIT- FIRE'.

In the present era of internet, the language is not the Bar. Through computers, any language can be translated in the desired language for easy understanding. However, the languages which have more alphabets is considered as a stronger and easier language. Devnagari is one such language. Hindi was and will be a unique language to unite our nation. Secondly, all regional languages are derived either from sanskrut or hindi. Hence, it must be promoted
