beahviour of people is guided by environment. Mass media plays an imp role. news about crimes against women - with repeated details of brutality will only increase repetition of such crimes as people with criminal mentality get ideas and seek pleasure in sadism. more news need to come on who played positive roles, men with positive roles for women etc. etc. such depiction will increase positive beh and give role models for men- which are missing in present society.

need to improve the traffic problem- immediate punishment for violation is a must. even in the capital of UP most of the crossings do not have traffic light and barring few main crossings the traffic light is not followed. strict rules for bike drivers required for their own and public safety. in india there is no concept of emergency lane. we need that to attend emergencies.

In Singapore the law for sexual harassment is so strong that no one dares to harass women. In pubs or public places if men have to pass through a group of women they will raise their hands and say "excuse me i am passing here".to avoid any prank or complaint.

putting restrictions, installing CCTV is need based temporary efforts/solutions to women safety. Real challenge lies in (1) implementation of law -encouraging genuine cases to be lodged and immediate justice is given. (2). long term solution is in changing the mindset, mainly of boys and men, need to work more intensely with men than women. (3).value based Gender education for all adolescents. (4). adolescent policy to be in place.
