Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, in Karnataka State has been selected by the Ministry of Urban Development as one of the 100 smart cities to participate in the “Smart City” Challenge Stage-2 by the Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India.

Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation was constituted in the year 1962 by combining two cities separated by a distance of 20 kilometers. This was a unique experiment in urban development history. The area of this Corporation is 202.3sq.kms, spread over 45 revenue villages. The population of the city as per the 1991 Census was 7 lakhs. The present population is nearly more than 9.43 lakhs. Under the Government of India Act of 1850, the Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal council was established on August 15, 1855.

1) Public/Private Major Hospitals at important places eg: VidyaNagar, Unkal, Navanagar..etc (Mobile Van Hospitals also good). 2) Local Trains between H-D on existing Railway Tracks/New Track. 3) Water Linkages from Rivers to have drinking water. 4) Better Drainage System. 5) Green Parks at Important Places. 6) Better Garbage Disposal system and Energy from Waste material. 7) Politicians/Govt. officers must monitor monthly basis of progress.

1) Seperate Industrial Zones from Main city to provide employment. 2) Must have IT Parks/Software Parks to provide Jobs for NK people (@Navanagar). 3) Metro Train/Rail now only should be planned and implemented. 4) Solar Power Plants to have Power Backup and energy savings. 5) Double Wide Roads to ease traffic congestion (Outer Ring Roads also good for heavy vehicles). 6) Fly Overs/Underground Bridge to ease traffic at main points. 7) Incubation/Training centers at Navanagar/Sutagatti.

pl provide crematory (funeral Ground) in hubli and Dharwad smart city at every 3 to 5 km Radius in new Extention areas.

1. Solar Farms on the outskirts of city to feed into the main grid. 2.Wind farms if feasible. 3.Solid waste management. 4.Setting up good public schools on the lines of Singapore. Good teaching staff (best in state,well known and highly paid). 5.Community centers ( swimming pool,library ,farmers market) in every locality.
