Jaipur has been selected in the list of 100 Smart cities under the Smart City Mission of Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India launched in June 2015. Moving forward the city is in the process of preparing a Smart City Proposal (SCP) as a requirement to participate in the Smart City Challenge, which needs to be submitted within 100 days timeframe. Under the Smart City Challenge, top 20 cities will be selected from 100 shortlisted cities based on the SCP. The smart city proposal would include city wide smart urban solutions as well as identification of areas within the city for specific area development and its implementation. Upon shortlisting, Jaipur can claim to work towards becoming one of India's connected cities under the smart city initiative. The dream of Rajasthan Govt is to transition Jaipur into a smart and sustainable city in phases.

The process of SCP preparation would be driven by intense citizen engagement at multiple levels in the city, for which Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) has prepared an extensive Citizen Engagement Plan. The idea is to capture the voice and unique vision of the citizen for their city and engage with them proactively to understand city priority issues and the prioritise solutions based on their needs. JMC will carry out three rounds of stakeholder consultations over the period of next two months.
In the round 1 Citizen’s views and suggestions would be documented and incorporated to arrive at City’s Vision and define goals in terms of their aspiration to see their city in next 20 years followed by strategies to achieve these goals. The stakeholders are expected to highlight suggestions/ideas on improvement of city services such as water supply, transportation system, sanitation, housing, health, education, energy, open spaces, air quality, safety and security etc. In the next stage i.e. Round 2 of stakeholder consultations, which will be carried out during the month of October, JMC will seek similar kind of feedback from citizens on area development and pan city smart solutions.

Jaipur citizen and community is its biggest strength. Your views and feedback is very critical and important in this process. So at this stage, the citizens are urged to participate in the forum and share their views on Vision for Jaipiur City, Goals and Strategies to achieve this. Your views, opinion and solutions on urban issues faced by Jaipur would not only support a better future, but it will also make Jaipur strong contender for getting shortlisted as one of the first 20 cities in India to implement Smart City Solutions in Phase 1.

Let’s participate to make this proposal inclusive and meaningful for every common man, every citizen of the city.

Kindly post your views and ideas till 15th October 2015.

All the new roads should be constructed with cement. It will incur more capital at first but it requires less maintenance and it lasts 5 times more than the tar road.

Metro from mansarovar to chandpole should be cancelled as it is incurring loss due to less fright, instead another metro phase should be started from chaksu to ajmeri gate as this is the route with most traffic. And to make people to opt metro, illegal transport should be ceased at this route, immediately.

Green Jaipur-
Lots of Greenery,Public park and potholes free road has always attracted people. Similarly it will always attract big companies to settle in Jaipur and to give lots of jobs to youth of Rajasthan.
Neat,Clean and green infrastructure is the backbone of a developed city and these things need to be taken into consideration while jaipur is proudly announced as one of smart city.

Another issue which Jaipur need to tackle smartly is Traffic control.
Apart from main city , there is lot of chaos in other parts of city. Tonk road(after sanganer flyover towards paratp ngr) is one of the best example where traffic police are rare to see. As a result, frequent traffic jam.No fear of traffic police has given guts to public to break traffic rules.
Also, even when traffic police is present, they normally stands 100 mtr ahead of traffic lights irrespective of the jam.

For Jaipur to be considered as smart city, Rajasthan Government need to start work on basic things.
1.) Clean Jaipur- I think still we are lacking the tag of clean Jaipur, Many good localities are facing the issue of littered garbage and that too at every 500-600 mtrs.
PFA image of kaveri_path, Swarn_path.
Where this view is common, and that too when we are in phase-1 of clean India.
A simple solution to avoid this dirty view to place garbage containers at every corners of localities.PFA box
