Smart City Jalandhar

Start Date :
Oct 08, 2015
Last Date :

00:00 AM IST (GMT +5.30 Hrs)
The City of “Jalandhar”, prominent Sports & Light Engineering manufacturing goods Hub of Asia in the State of Punjab, has been selected as one of the Smart Cities under the ...
For times immemorial, Annual Festival is held at the earlier said "Shri Sidh Baba Sodal Mandir" which though a one-day affair, gets extended for about because of the devotion of the devotees. AMAZING TO FIND THAT NEVER THE LOCAL BODY ADMINISTRATION HAS CARED TO
SPARE A THOUGHT OR TWO TO RECOGNITION TO THE CHILD GOD WHOM THIS ANCIENT TEMPLE IS DEVOTED. THIS DESPITE THE FACT THAT BESIDES ALL THE TIME DURING THE YEAR, THE MEN WHO MATTER IN THE LOCAL ADMINISTRATION MAKE A BEE-LINE TO THIS TEMPLE..
As I have suggested in my earlier posts there is no dearth of spots in JALANDHAR CITY which deserve to be developed into prime tourist places. There is another ancient Temple, not far away from the Railway Station and the National Highway, well known in JALANDHAR CITY and its adjoining townships and villages, as "Shri Sidh Baba Sodal Mandir". NOT ONLY FROM THESE AREAS, PEOPLE FROM SEVERAL PARTS OF OUR COUNTRY MAKE IT A POINT TO PAY THEIR RESPECTS WHENEVER THEY GET A CHANCE...
It is really astonishing that one Local Self Gov't. after the other chose to pay scant heed to see Tourism potential JALANDHAR CITY has to offer. This is,perhaps, of many-many other such authorities in the country. Now that the Hon'ble Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has underlined the crucial role the Tourism can play in giving impetus to developmental process in the country, a refreshing awakening is dawning in the country. M.C.J MUST NOT IGNORE THIS DAWNING. HOPE IT WOULD ACT.
It is hard and harsh to see that over the years the Local Administration of JALANDHAR CITY have remained absolutely insensitive to develop Tourist Spots in the City. It isn't that there are no places or points in the City which deserve to be designated as of Tourism value, and developed that way. THIS HAS BEEN A STRANGE CONSISTENT AND PERSISTENT POLICY OF LOCAL ADMINISTRATION OF ALL HUES THAT CITY HAS SEEN FAR. NOT WELCOME SITUATION!
It was always clear and sure that tourism can be a rewarding enterprise. It is blended with multiple utility potential. It makes aware and awakened the citizens of an area the heritage they are inheritors to. Tourism generates revenue for the Administration which, in turn, eases its financial potential. The surroundings of a tourist spot act employment opportunity for the needy. HOWEVER, STRANGELY TOURISM IS
THE LEAST CATERED TO SECTOR IN OUR COUNTRY. NEEDS KEENER ATTENTION.
The Hon'ble Prime Minister,Shri Narendra Modi has time and again laid emphasized on the premise that tourism in itself is highly rewarding industry, and, as such, every effort must be made to locate and develop the heritage areas and points that carry history of their own. In most of the cases, even local people are not aware of the fact that they do inherit a rich heritage. TOURISM SHALL ALSO BE A DEPENDABLE SOURCE OF REVENUE FOR THE LOCAL ADMINISTRATION, BESIDES BEAUTIFYING THE AREA.
Almost just adjacent to JALANDHAR CITY Railway Station, is an ancient Temple devoted to Shri Deotsidh Baba Balak Nath which should also be developed as tourist spot. Extremely popular with the populace, this Temple has two-way opening. Beside this there is another Temple known as Shri Tulsi Temple, sharing the same vicinity. THE M.C.J. MUST TAKE UP THE JOB OF DEVELOPING THE TWIN TEMPLE COMPLEX LOCATED IN KOT KISHAN CHAND AREA OF THE CITY. M.C.J. OWE IT TO CITY DWELLERS TO TAKE UP THIS JOB.
JALANDHAR CITY also needs to be developed as a tourist hub. We are absolutely missing that we in JALANDHAR CITY do have spots that can, must be developed in such way that they too enter tourist map. JUST AROUND TWO KMs. FROM BOTH RAILWAY STATION & NATIONAL HIGHWAYS IS A TEMPLE KNOWN AS "SHRI DEVI TALAB MANDIR". THIS A SORT OF TEMPLE COMPLEX WITH ANCIENT PILGRIMAGE SPOTS. THIS TEMPLE NEEDS TO BE DEVELOPED ON THE LINES OF "SHRI VAISHNO DEVI SHRINE TRUST". MUST BE PART OF SCP.
A city is not smart until it manages its waste well. Waste management process should be decentralised and locality based, quick and real time. It is surprising to note that 70% of waste is organic in nature & can be reprocessed before it becomes waste or, thereafter, can be recycled in a sustainable manner. We have invented a Green Waste Reprocessor machine which re‐process all green reject and converts it into valuable by‐products. More details can be found on www.cleanindiatech.com

It shouldn't be that the residents indulge in criticizing the M.C.J., and hold it responsible squarely for all the ills plaguing the City. Yes, the Local Body is infected with so many shortcomings because of which it has miserably fallen short of providing the citizens the quality-life that they deserve. RATHER TO CRITICIZE FOR THE SAKE OF IT, THE AIM SHOULD BE TO PLACE THE THINGS ON THE RIGHT TRACK BY EXTENDING FULL COOPERATION TO THE M.C.J. AND, NOT LETTING IT LOOSEN ITS BELTS.
